Great moisturizer. for humidifier

The humidifier works very well but I had problems with it. It showed an error code not described in the instructions but reset itself. Expect to purchase an additional $100 worth of items to install. If you don't know much about plumbing and electrics, hire someone to do the installation.

Installing a thermometer can be tricky - works well

This is a great humidifier but if I buy it again I will choose the next model. The additional function of a thermometer to measure the outside temperature and adjust it accordingly was not very helpful for us and caused a lot of installation work.

Excellent device, not for beginners to install

Excellent home system. I have two of these, one for the house and one for the parents. The installation is not something I would recommend for a beginner. Help guides are full until it comes to wiring. The wiring isn't clear unless you have a little experience or knowledge working with or on stoves. There are a few YouTube videos that walk you through the process, which again lacks thoroughness in the wiring part. If you have any questions, the technical support is very helpful.

Know your limits

Just because you can cut grass or cook delicious meatloaf doesn't mean you can install one. Don't use a poppet valve, install a built-in shutoff valve (you can hire a plumber or use extra shutoff valves). The electrics can be tricky but it comes with a diagram so follow the lines. Follow the instructions on how to install the humidistat and it works perfectly. I've had it for 5 seasons now with no problems. Requires annual maintenance of $9 cleaning and seal replacement. This is a good product at a good price. Aprilaire only guarantees this when installed by a licensed HVAC professional. I chose it anyway because it comes with a sophisticated humidistat that drives the humidifier and oven fan to deliver humidity even when the oven isn't producing heat. The installation instructions are mostly correct, if not very well written. Works perfectly. For the average user, allow 4-6 hours for the installation.

I wouldn't say it was easy to install but self professed handymen like me can. I couldn't get the transformer to work so I had to visit a few internet forums to sort out the wiring straight to the oven board. Once I connected all the cables everything worked and there were no more dry skin or bloody noses during the winter months. Highly recommended. Not a trivial do-it-yourself installation, but worth it.

Prior to purchase I received an estimate of $1400 for a local contractor to install their bypass system. I bought this from Revain for less than $200 and bought about $100 worth of additional fittings and ducting in nearby Lowes. I took a few extra steps such as installing a new back box for the 24v transformer. I didn't use a poppet valve but bought a Shark-Bite valve and cut off the 3/4" hot water line next to the water heater (since I have a heat pump and hot water is recommended for heat…

Poor customer service

Bought on Amazon after a long research. I felt like I was buying from a very reputable company that has been doing this for a long time. The humidifier was installed by a licensed HVAC technician. A month later he had to go back because the machine wasn't working. It turned out that the Aprilaire control unit was faulty and needed to be replaced. I bought this humidifier on sale because it was in an open package, most likely it is a return. It arrived with no missing or damaged parts and all papers were present. The area of my house is 2625 square meters. Feet including basement and the next smaller model would be sufficient.
