Description of Apstra Operating System (AOS)

Apstra Operating System (AOS) is a turnkey application for automating the lifecycle of data center leaf-spine network services. AOS works with your established vendor switch hardware (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Mellanox) and your switch operating systems (NX-OS, Junos, EOS, Cumulus), brite-box (Dell EMC) or white-box hardware running a variety of switch operating systems including Cumulus and open alternatives (Microsoft SONiC, Dell EMC OpenSwitch OPX). AOS helps you automate your network as a single system, not as complex individual parts. AOS completely decouples your network design, implementation and operations from the physical (underlay) and virtual (overlay) network infrastructure, using whichever hardware and switch OS you choose.

Best of Both Cables and Switches for One Product

The best part about apstra aros is that it handles both cabling & switching together! That means we don't get stuck at each stage trying to tackle one part while ignoring another so there's usually no "surprise!" moments in our workflow either because the product takes care if all elements smoothly through the process without issue. It lacks more features compared to competitors but I can honestly say this has never stopped us anyway. The fact that its free/easy to use which encourages new…

Very good solution for monitoring your internet connection

I like that it's easy to use and configure. It lets us see what our traffic looks like at any time without having to check in realtime. The UI isn't great nor does it have many features outside of basic configs. Also, if there are errors happening during configuration, they don't show up until after all configurations have been created. There also seems to be an issue when using multiple switches together where some devices will go offline but others remain online. We've been able to monitor…

Pros
  • Easy installation
  • Great for monitoring data packets within your own networks.
  • Can view both layer 2 & 3 information with ease!
Cons
  • No support from Cisco or other big names who specialize more than just routers

Easy To Use, Good Support For Newbies

I like how easy it was to get up & going in our environment - even without any experience! The support staff were great at helping us out when we got stuck so that's key too. They have an awesome package deal now where they include some pretty cool things such as VMWare vSphere 5 Hypervisor which has been very helpful since getting started here. There are other vendors who offer similar features but this one really does seem more complete than others while being fairly priced compared to their

Pros
  • Even without any experience it's easy to get up & running
Cons
  • It's pretty solid for what it was intended for

Apstra Operating System (AOS) - Great product - very helpful team

Apstra has been working to help us manage our networking environment. We are able to monitor our switches in real time and know when something goes wrong. We have had to make adjustments after some minor glitches, but overall it's been great. I wish we could see more detailed information about what exactly happened, but that's probably just my preference. It would be nice if we could customize how often we want to sync the data. This way we can have more control over the frequency of updates…
