Great filter pads for a fraction of the cost.

Wow what a great product! Now I can afford to replace all of my filters for a fraction of the cost. I have three 30 gallon tanks so I love the excellent roll filter.

Pros
  • High test results for hold and durability

Works Great: Aquarium Pumps & Filters

Cut this to the size of your filter and it does a great job of trapping all manner of debris and presumably beneficial bacteria. All of my aquariums that I use this in have stable water chemistry and clear and clean water. It's also a pretty sizeable role. If you had 10-15 tanks with working filters hanging from the back, I think this stuff would last you for years to come!

Be careful when choosing your size

Originally I was considering 6' and 8' lengths. The description says it will be 1.25 inches thick or a little more. Various sizes are offered so I chose 10ft as I felt the description would fit. When the package arrived it was 0.75 inch thick. You should not offer different length sizes under the same product description unless they would match the "Product Description".

Great product, best filter accessory

Great pods, lately my tank has been slightly yellowed and the pods filter well too but you'll have to wait a bit. Give your tank time to filter. At least 24 to 48 hours. You will also notice the result on the pillow. My notebook collected the yellow cloudy paint and all the junk. I washed and reused the same pad three times and then threw it away. I use this gasket for HOB AC70 filters on the bottom and top of the sponge. Also used with the Aqueon 20 filter as a cleaning medium after cleaning a

Efficient, long-term success.

We use this product to the extreme. We have a sea bait shop that sells live shrimp and minnows. This media is the first stage in all of our tanks (350 gallons each), we circulate water at 550 gallons per hour and this media does a great job removing large to medium solids. A little is enough! We wash the filters 2 times a day and they stay in continuous use 24 hours a day. The 18" stuff lasts me 2 weeks before we replace it. It would be a very long time if you knew how nasty those shrimp and…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Little things

I compare this to the proprietary fused filter media that I prefer. This product is very thin and easy to compress compared to the popular brand (PB). He's nice and soft. It looks like both the white and blue sides are the same filter media, just different colors, same density, and it looks like it's all one piece and the top has been colored. PB obviously consists of two separate parts. PB is much denser, which increases its filtering capacity. I have to change this product in my tanks 3-4…

Quality filter element!

Let's start with the amount of filter material obtained. I bought a 6 foot roll. That's a lot of filter mat for your money. I change the filter media in my IM Nuvo 20 reef tank every week. I ended up cutting out a small 2x3 inch square for each media tray. That's enough for me for a while. I even used some in my Fluval 206 canister filter in a freshwater aquarium. The material is soft and not abrasive at all. It was packaged nicely and is a high quality filter material. The material does not…

Nice and simple: aquarium pumps and filters

I used Aquaclear 50 in a 20g tank with long plants. Being old school, carbon was a staple in my world of fish farming, although I ended up with a zero-carbon setup. I was having issues with floating material in my tank and decided to buy some old blue and white filament for my tank. In the filler I have a suction sponge, a foam block, two pieces of thread and a biocarrier. After a few hours I now have a crystal clear aquarium with clear water. The first part gets a bit messy and usually only…

Cheap and effective

I bought this volumetric filter media for the Fluval 207 canister filter. I have tried filter floss before, but I had a hard time getting the same amount of floss in each bowl in addition to the biomedia in each tray . The problem was that in thinner areas this inevitably resulted in all detritus flowing through those areas, while in denser areas very little filtering took place. It was also difficult to ensure that the filament actually stayed in the tray when other trays and the lid were…
