Not currently supported Xfinity

If the Xfinity staff cannot "fix" the activation issues with this modem, I will return it. Although the modem is listed on the Xfinity.com website as supported by Xfinity, so far I've been able to say IT IS NOT. Xfinity chat and phone staff both got error messages on their systems when trying to add a modem to my account. I'm making one last try so I can update this view in a few days after using a working/enabled modem; But right now I can only give one star, and that's only because Amazonโ€ฆ

Works well with Xfinity Triple Play

After switching to Xfinity Triple Play, I had to switch to a home gateway that also supports Xfinity Voice VOIP. My previous device was also Arris, but only their cable modem. Since there are very few gateways on the market that support Xfinity Voice, my choices were limited. I didn't want to rent it from Comcast either, so I settled on the Arris SVG2482AC, the latest consumer model that combines a cable model, an Internet router, and a voice modem in one device. It was very easy to set up andโ€ฆ

After activation, wait 30 minutes and then perform a soft reset!

I bought this modem/router directly from Revain and am very satisfied. I am very satisfied with the performance so far; I am currently being trained by Xfinity/Comcast on 400Mbps Blast Pro Internet. Setup was easy, the rep asked for serial numbers like they always do when activating new hardware, and within 10 minutes I was up and running. It should be noted that after hanging up with the rep I went online and ran a speed test to make sure the speeds were as expected and I'm glad I did, it ranโ€ฆ

Great modem! Decided to postpone the review for a year.

I am an IT specialist. Bought to replace a rented communist modem. When Comcast set it up, it didn't work, and they gave lame excuses that this modem wouldn't work for their service (which was utter nonsense). Since I was dealing with an inexperienced Comcast tech who didn't know anything, I hung up, called back, and another tech set it up. After setup, the modem applies a series of updates, which takes about 45 minutes before you can access the Internet (for the first time). They'll ask you if

Excellent Wi-Fi speed when using bridge mode with TP-Link router

I've been using this Arris router for 5 months and my configuration works very well. I'm a Comcast customer in Denver on a Triple Play package (TV, Internet, Phone). The internet plan I use is 250 m/s (download speed). I used a Comcast modem and paid $13 a month rent. The speed was less than 100 m/s. My new configuration shows amazing speeds. Get downloads up to 299mps over a 5GHz connection, although speeds drop on weekdays during the workday. At first I was concerned that switching to aโ€ฆ

Great product, terrible installation

On paper this product has a lot of potential. However, it seems that Comcast did not have a testing and release plan to support this product and train their support team. Also, Arris doesn't care what Comcast does or says about this product. They don't even talk to each other. I bought the device because Comcast support suggested that the device is supported as described on Comcast's mydeviceinfo webpage. I had many problems trying to install the device. Problem #1: The block was not activated.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

This is a good product and the price isn't bad if you really want both Xfinity and modem cable and a high performance router. This is one of two models that Xfinity recommends for a 400Mbps Internet connection that will work with Xfinity VOIP landline phone service. These are the fastest cable modems that will work with the Xfinity VOIP system. And it was the cheaper option (although in hindsight it might have been worth paying more to get the other choice (Netgear model) just for the colorโ€ฆ
