Great mesh system - Works great with Verizon FiOS Ethernet ONT

I used it to replace a new FiOS WiFi6 gateway router and the difference is amazing if you're looking for a comparison. During setup, do not do anything that might disrupt your Bluetooth connection during the process (e.g. answer a call with AirPods connected) and wait about half an hour for the router and host to update firmware and during setup have synchronized. It took about that long for both to stop flashing either blue or green and eventually turning white and both showing up on the app…

This mesh system definitely has more coverage than my old ASUS RT-AC87U router (3 level house, 3300 sq ft) ), but the speeds are about the same as my old router. I have a 400x20 internet connection, but most of the time I get around 40-60Mbps. About once a week I have to reboot the router and node because it goes down. Hope the firmware updates fix the problem. It drops devices like iPhones, iPads, and even an Asus laptop even if it's just a few feet from a router or host. For now I've set it…

Really good so far. List of pros and cons.

Rated 4 out of 5 as it's only been a month and there are a few small "quirks" which are listed in the CONS section below. So I got these at the end of December to replace my old wi-fi system which was having LOTS of signal strength issues lately and was cutting communication between the 'tethering' and wi-fi router system. For reference we have a house of about 2600 square feet, 2 floors and both (new) units are upstairs in opposite corners of the house. Pros: Installation was SUPER easy. I was

Twice as fast as Orbi RBK 50 but has trouble switching devices

Coming from an Orbi RBK50 that I tried last week. I have a 1GB up/down connection. On the Orbi, I couldn't go over 500Mbps over Ethernet, let alone Wi-Fi. With this Asus product I get over 900 Mbps over Ethernet and 600-700 Mbps over Wi-Fi. It exceeded my expectations in terms of speed. The only problem I have is that my devices don't switch between nodes. Three times in the last 24 hours I've lost Wi-Fi on two phones and an iPad when moving from a room with an AiMesh node to a room with a…

Finally no more WiFi dead zones!

I bought Zenwifi mesh routers mainly because I don't get a wireless signal for the smart doorbell at my front door and a very inconsistent signal in my garage (pain when I'm on the phone and driving home). 90% of the time they call me when I arrive at my garage) I have a 2 story house with an area of 3500 sqm. ft. with 4 bedrooms. The entire installation took 20 minutes including unpacking, swapping out my current AC1900 router and using the ASUS router app to set it up. (only took 4 minutes!)…

So far so good, if not the best I've owned

I've had a lot of ASUS routers, but a few years ago I decided to try the Netgear Nighthawk X6. It worked pretty well, but it took quite a bit of rebooting and the reports never worked, so I couldn't tell who had used up our monthly broadband allowance. So I looked for an upgrade and looked at solutions from Netgear Orbi, Google and Revain, but after a little research I settled on ASUS ZEN and so far I have no regrets. As a former network engineer, I was looking for some features such as: B…

Unreliable, buggy

Summary: I read some Meshed Wi-Fi system reviews before deciding on this ASUS XT8 two-box system. Many "expert" ratings are of little help in hindsight. They tend to focus on data rate and signal strength, which, while important, are by no means the only criteria that determine utility. I would argue that uptime and reliable uninterrupted connections with multiple devices that move frequently are probably more important to most people. I am returning this item as it failed miserably according…

I will never buy an ASUS router again

I bought ZenWifi AX after reading positive reviews and 7 years of experience with ASUS routers and building a mesh network with GT ROG AC5300 and RT-AC86U. Use Zenwifi router as main router and wireless backhaul node with GT ROG AC5300 as Ethernet backhaul device. With previous routers, setup took less than 15 minutes, and with ZenWifi, it took an hour to connect the 2.4GHz loopback wireless node, forcing me to factory reset the devices and reboot twice. The routers were updated to the latest…
