Looks solid. Easy to use. I love that they include a small screwdriver to turn the calibration screw. I calibrated it and everything has been fine ever since. I can't tell you how many glass hydrometers I've broken. I keep one safe in the box now (only use it to confirm calibration from time to time). I'm only taking off a star because the case could be better. It works but seems like it will break or open if you drop it.

Bought to replace an old pendulum hydrometer for my marine aquarium. The device is accurate, I have tested and dialed it with calibration fluid and also double checked with my hydrometer. I am concerned about the design of this refractometer. It feels plastic and cheap in the hand, it doesn't weigh that much. A plus is the fact that it comes with a hard plastic storage box. There are foam inserts in the case, so I think that with proper care (dry, cleaned, etc.) it will last a long time.

So I got this because I was growing adult Artemia. I had to make sure the salinity was high enough but not too high due to evaporation. After calibrating it with reverse osmosis, it was incredibly easy to use. You drop a drop of water with a dropper, then put on the valve and look through the eyepiece and you see a blue line up to the number of salted points. If you are in any way interested in farming brine shrimp like me. I really recommend getting this. Water salinity is really important and
