Description of IFR Certified Aviation Flight Training Glasses - View Limiting Device for Pilot Training & Simulation of Instrument Meteorological Conditions - Adjustable Frosted Polycarbonate Frames (Blue)

LIGHTWEIGHT, PORTABLE GLASSES - Much more convenient and cost-effective compared to hood or visor options, these professional quality IFR training glasses are comfortable, lightweight and easy to take with you anywhere. IFR CERTIFIED VIEW LIMITING DEVICE - The KMD Aero glasses are frosted to partially block the wearer’s field of vision, but with a clear lens area that allows the pilot a full view of the instrument panel. The high brow area prevents peeking and this training equipment is fully Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) certified. FITS OVER EYEGLASSES & UNDER HEADSETS - You can comfortably wear these training goggles over most eyeglasses with no trouble, and they will also fit underneath aviation/flying headsets. UV PROTECTED, SHATTERPROOF & ADJUSTABLE FRAMES - The lenses of your KMD Aero IFR training glasses are made from shatterproof polycarbonate that is hard, durable and long lasting. The glasses are adjustable for convenience and also feature UV protection to keep your eyes safe from the sun. MULTIPLE COLORS AVAILABLE WITH FREE CARRY BAG - Choose from Black, Red or Purple glasses according to your preference. Your purchase also includes a free protective carrying bag so you can keep your glasses safe wherever you go.

I am sorry. While they technically fit over glasses, they are...

Sorry. While they technically fit eyeglasses, they certainly don't work well with eyeglasses. After putting them on over my glasses, they sit so low on my nose that I had to tilt my head back to see through the clear holes. They also scratched the lenses of very expensive rimless bifocals. I will never wear these again.

Pros
  • Great product
Cons
  • Some bugs

See your dashboard in sharp detail and nothing else

Do you only want to see the bottom half of the field of view? Well, yes, if you're training for an instrument rating or lugging a safety pilot around to keep track. These glasses perfectly meet that need. They have served me well for several months and many unnecessarily long cross-country flights.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • New competitors have emerged

What a beautiful mistake.

I am currently studying PPP. I left my first black frame training goggles on a charter plane and they are gone. When I bought them I didn't realize they had red frames (or that other colors were available) but when they arrived I was thrilled that I had made such a sweet mistake. I now have the only red rimmed "aviator training goggles" in my flying club. Even if I forget them and leave them back on the plane, I know which ones are mine.

Personal preference

It depends if you like the classic gray hood or if you like this one. The transparent misted part gets in the way when the sun shines through it. I put painter's tape on the clear part we're looking through and spray-painted the clear fogged-up part black. It's a TON lighter on my eyes. The only thing I don't like about them is that they fit snugly against my head and I end up sticking my hands between my head and the padded part of the headset. This breaks the seal around my ear and can be a…

Very useful for car and car electronics

Bought to freshen things up a bit. They're surprisingly comfortable, even with a headset on. I only wore them for an hour with no problems. View blocking isn't quite right for me, but pretty close. I can see through the side window below, but after concentrating on looking straight ahead at the instruments instead of cheating, I quickly got used to it and didn't notice it anymore. Otherwise the view is good. The only other issue is that they are white, on a late flight the sunlight was very…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

I can definitely recommend them for helicopters.

These are mostly frosted goggles. So they're as comfortable as ski goggles, which isn't a bad thing. I train with tools in a helicopter where all the tools are on my left and these goggles block almost everything but the tools which really reduces distractions. If you want to look outside, you have to use the old "I looked up to check the magnetic compass” trick. At night, when we're trying to do most of our training, you see nothing but these tools. Even with a lot of sky/earth lighting. They…

OK, but the build quality could be better.

Got them for an upcoming IFR training session I had planned. almost like a spray from the misty part but only light and imperceptible, just hold them and really look at them. When you put them on, it can create a lot of glare depending on how the sun can come in from the front, and without sun exposure it appears slightly blurry to one eye. The company sent me a replacement (so 5 star customer service!) but unfortunately some replacements were the same so I'm guessing it's a batch. to put them…

Pros
  • Great for a small home

  • Hard to say
