BLACK DECKER BDEMS600 Detail Sander Review

This is NOT my husband's grinder! I've been married 39 years and I'm waiting for a grinder. My husband NEVER bothers to look for tools for me to use so I finally decided to buy MY tools. MY first is a little grinder! Next? Drill? Then a router? Then? 30 x 40 WORKSHOP! I'm on a roll!

We have several Black & Decker power tools and are very happy with them. However, this mill was very disappointing. It was only used twice to sand down a couple of chairs before painting and the fingertip came off. Now we can't get a fingertip or one to secure the tip. As mentioned in other reviews, the dust nozzle also picks up some dust; most on the floor. Very disappointed with this product. I would look for another parts grinding product. waste of money.

Not a fan - finally got to the project I bought it for. First the vacuum cleaner broke. It came loose, then started falling out of the sand, and then the little piece of plastic holding it together broke off. It vibrated loudly and flew out of my hand. The secret to the long life of the velcro on the sander is to apply light pressure when sanding. When you work hard, heat builds up (due to friction) and damages the sander's Velcro. This applies to any grinder with Velcro. If you are not patient in this case, the "tip” of the Velcro will fall off earlier than usual (after several years of use). I would give this grinder 5 stars because I absolutely love how well it grinds and how well the finger attachment can grind those hard to reach areas. Within the first half hour of use, the plastic area around the finger attachment screw came loose, making it impossible to reattach the finger or the triangular portion to the top of the mouse grinder. I returned this item. Within the first 2 minutes the rubber disk holding the dust bin in place broke and the bin fell out and was no longer holding. I have not touched this area of the grinder up to this point, even to take it out of the box, but I realized that even if I get a replacement disc or the unit is replaced, this will be an ongoing problem since the design of the collection container was poorly designed and absolutely not durable. This little sander worked great for an hour. It's easy to hold and the finger attachment makes it easy to sand hard-to-reach areas. Unfortunately the same finger attachment fell apart on first use. The tip of the grinding wheel is held in place by a screw. To install the finger cap, you must remove the tip and replace it with the finger cap.
