Accurate, fast and way better than a tape measure

I'm an engineer and I'm often involved in construction projects. I also build in very sensitive areas, so most of the work has to be done in advance. Accurate measurements are required. After watching two engineers try to measure a 30 foot window with tape measures, I figured there must be a better way. It made all my measurements more accurate and reliable. I can't say I really like Bosch spatulas, but this thing really impressed me. Highly recommended for those with large projects that…

It has an amazing array of features

This baby blew me away. It has an amazing feature set, the screen is easy to read, small enough to carry in your pocket but big enough to use. I was ready for some amazing laser distance readings, but the digital level and the cool bluetooth connection with the app are strawberries on the parfait. The Bosch GLM application is a little buggy, the calculator built into the application (which is important!) is difficult to use but works (sometimes after a try or two). One of the cool things about…

Very accurate but some improvements could be made

I bought this because I'm doing some renovation plans/work and the tape measure can get in the way. This product is great for that and I was happy that it is usually accurate to about 1/16th of an inch. I've tried most of the other features to know how to use them and haven't had any major problems. However, the user interface is not that good. The round menu with tiny icons is just slow and stupid in my opinion. on one of my tablets. I'm not sure what their limitations are, but my tablets…

Great tool, especially for measurements over 6 feet when .

Great tool especially for measurements over 6ft when working alone. Accuracy appears to be at least 1/32 if not closer. Commonly used for measuring when installing pine tongue and groove board. Position the base of the block at the base of the tongue and measure the length of the plank to the wall. Dead every time. Simply take two measurements to ensure the laser is hitting the target and not the insulation etc. Feet, inches and fractions take a little getting used to if you are used to reading

Some complaints. Nice device.

I have been using these devices at work for many years and have taken many, many measurements to document factory conditions. This latest model from Bosch is a cool device - love the size, the bright easy to read LCD screen and the decent features. Although there are a few things that really bother me. First, the buttons feel cheap and just don't have a super nice (and light) solid click/feel. The button seems to require the right amount of pressure in the center to activate, sometimes…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Some nuances

My main concern is the price of this product. It's not a bad device per se, but I've read bad reviews about the app. I haven't had to use it yet, so I'll wait until I do. I got the 50C because I need 1/16 inch accuracy and this was the cheapest that did it. I am a door specialist. and we need to be accurate to within 1/8th of an inch (since that is the size of the gaps between the door and its frame). This is a great device, but it cannot completely replace the tape measure. For example, the…

Excellent compared to the Leica Disto A8.

I lost my old, reliable Leica Disto A8. I think I buried it in the wall somewhere. But despite the Leica's outrageous price (I'm not sure how much I paid for it, but I can see it cost $500), it was far from perfect. In contrast, this little Bosch tool costs a fraction of the cost and solves a few problems. one of my constant complaints about Leica. First, the GLM 50 has an impressive, easy-to-read display. Not sure if it's a backlit LCD or OLED, but whatever - the high-contrast white-on-blue…
