Worked. mostly

I bought this to cure something I thought was algae (and after research found it was cyanobacteria) in my 40 gallon Tank with fresh water. I followed the directions, removed the charcoal and chemistry, and left the airstones on all day (they were usually off during the day while the CO2 was being introduced). The instructions say to do a 20% water change after 48 hours and put the charcoal back in. Unfortunately, due to my schedule, I was only able to do a water change after 72 hours. For the…

Find out the facts and risks before using

Know the risk. The manufacturer gives conflicting dosage information. The packaging says the 2 gram pack is for 300 gallons. The dosing information on their website says to dose 100 milligrams of Chemiclean per 10 gallons, which allows a 2 gram pack to handle 200 gallons. The scoop included in the kit is designed for a dosage of 67 milligrams per 10 gallons. Why is this difference important? PROS:* Works. As promised. Point CONS:* Can't determine USE: Approach is ok (for me). But maybe they could change their design to make the first step more visible, as many people don't seem to realize that they need to increase their ventilation during treatment. Control parameters, feeding methods and manual extraction. My parameters didn't fluctuate and were relatively stable during the breakout. But that didn't seem to bother the cyano.
