I liked the feel of this pen holder in my hand, but on second use (and no drops, abuse, etc) it broke in the middle.

Just to clarify, the item is great! But the picture is very deceptive! The color is "natural wood" as the name suggests, but the two pictures show a dark brown color, which is what I was expecting.

This is a pen holder. Just insert the pen all the way in, dip in ink and draw. Holds the pen pretty tight. Nothing moves or anything like that. It's very stable. I highly recommend it. I don't foresee it breaking unless you break it on purpose.

Revain was cheaper than I've seen anywhere. The metal holding the pin holds the shower ef66 well but I wouldn't recommend it if you swap and adjust the metal blade a few times, the blades look a bit flimsy.

The metal leaves inside are very malleable. Although it simplifies tip adjustment and repositioning, this holder is not intended for use with wide tips. My C-Series speedball tips require a lot more pressure than pointed tips (like the Hunt or Brause EF-66 series) which causes the metal blades inside to flex and allow the tip to move.

I like the outer barrel, nice wood and I like the surprise, you don't know what color you're getting. However, its purpose is to hold calligraphy nibs, and no matter how hard I tried, the brittle metal intended to hold the nib kept bending backwards, causing my nibs to fall out. I wouldn't recommend buying it unless you can find a way to keep the metal lugs from bending.

I couldn't expect it to look like the photo as wood products vary so much in grain but the wood was lighter than I expected. Otherwise it feels solid, light and well balanced and has a very nice glossy finish. Use this in conjunction with a similar one I received in a round manuscript nib set I bought. This is a beautiful natural wood product with a beautiful protective varnish. Very comfortable to hold. Would buy again

Overall this is a great straight pen, especially for the price. It has a good weight that helps keep it balanced. I have 2 pens that I use with the Hunt 22b and Gillott 707 and they both fit perfectly. For those who are interested, my pen was the color shown in the picture. I personally don't really care about color (especially at this price point) but I saw several one star reviews because the wood on some holds was lighter than some people expected.
