C-Clamp Saver on Tools & Equipment

Ideal for 4-6 piston calipers (used on Tacoma). The expansion/compression ratchet mechanism takes some getting used to. They definitely need to leave a drop or two of oil on them to keep them from rusting and good mechanical shape. Overall excellent value for money, better than using C-clamps.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons

3/4 Ton Truck for Tools and Equipment

Used on my 3/4 ton truck. They are not fully extended so you need to insert 1 pad to fully fold the pistons. Also maybe because they are new but I had to hold the knurled part to make it crack until there was some tension. Works well and fits calipers with adapters provided.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Can't remember

Works great when set up correctly.

Great for pressing multi-piston calipers. Just understand that you need to set it up properly for it to work. You must widen the plates before installing the calipers. It should be snug at first and will expand. If you try to do it any other way, it won't work. It requires pressure on both plates to work. The instructions in the box are helpful.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Has potential to be great after some work

Good potential but could be better. I've been watching them for a while as I work a lot with brakes. The block I received will not break until enough pressure is applied on both sides. It's a bit annoying to set up, but when it works it's better than my old threaded rod compressor pushing against the old pad.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was some

Looks like it was sent back once.

When I received it, the box was open and the tab that closed the box was torn off. Looks like someone's already returned. The tool will not work continuously. I tried both directions and sometimes it popped. You also had to hold down the center spindle to get it to ratchet. It would be difficult to squeeze the caliper. I sent it back for a refund. They will probably send it to the next buyer.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Useless features

Disappointing good tool for tools and equipment

I bought this in the hope that it would be easier to squeeze the calipers than the old way with a clamp. When it arrived I was excited and started working on the front brake on my car. I barely had time to use it because the claw on the ratchet wasn't turning as it should. With a little push I got it working a bit. When I tried to reverse the ratchet and release the pressure, the center piece just twisted and I couldn't pull it back. All in all I am very disappointed with this tool. It was a…

Best Price in Tools & Equipment

I work with brakes a lot and have always used a C clip to reset the calipers. Eventually I decided I needed the "right" tool for the job, so I ordered one. I love that it comes with oversized pads although I haven't used them yet. I would give 5 stars for value but it loses one star for performance. Sometimes the ratchet spring is too stiff and I have to manually hold the shaft in the caliper and bracket for the ratchet function to work. Once it has a good resistance it works fine, but it may…

SPREAD 'UM good for brake tools

Haven't been able to use this yet. Waiting for the weather to get a little warmer. First impressions. Looks like a useful, well-made tool. There are many such styles. Build Quality - While it looks sturdy, the rivets in the handle assembly are not fully ground, resulting in sharp edges around the heads of each rivet. I don't think you would cut yourself. But maybe. This is a cumbersome tool and can be difficult to hang on a perforated board. They could have made it easier if there was a hole at

Great brake tool

I read all the negative reviews. Some of these are valid fears and some are just common sense. Here are some tips for working with brakes: 1) Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap. This allows the caliper piston to compress/repel more easily since the air trapped in the reservoir has to go somewhere. 2) Do not use the force of the tool to compress the brake piston. Do this slowly, allowing the caliper piston to retract with little effort. So slowly twist the handle of the tool and with very…
