This is a PAPER FIGHTING TOOL!

My wife hides everything with our name on it, I have a family of five and we are a military family. The military have a habit of betting on all of our social media, which only takes the paranoia to the next level. We spent about 11 years cleaning out worthless papers that were in the attic, under closets in every room, in random backpacks hidden behind things, and in every nook and cranny she managed to hide them. In old luggage, bags, wallets, shoe boxes, packing boxes. I mean you hear my…

THE PROGRAM DOES NOT WORK

UPDATE: Just got off the phone with Canon Tech Support. I've been told that if you can't connect the USB directly to the computer's USB port, the Canon R40 won't work. As MAC users we know that all newer MAC models don't have a USB port and if you use the USB port you will need to use an adapter. I have a MACBook Pro and am using the latest Catalina 10.15.6. The Canon R40 driver does not support the use of USB adapters. So don't waste your time and money if you don't have a USB port on your…

Excellent value for money and ease of use

I replaced a non-working Fujitsu Scansnap with this Canon R40 on my Mac. The software offered is easy to use and set up and very flexible. I was able to link to a DevonTHINK document and with one touch of the scanner the images are scanned and sent straight to the DevonTHINK inbox. Images are razor sharp and the problems I had with the Scansnap, multi-page feeds and jams (constantly) haven't happened with the R40. Win.This is a quality scanner at a great price. If in doubt I would buy it. The…

Huge time saver compared to a flatbed scanner but with some issues

I bought this scanner after spending countless hours scanning stacks of old household documents with a Canon flatbed scanner. The fact that both sides of a document can be scanned at the same time and blank pages (e.g. sheets with text or images on only one side) automatically ejected is great. All in all, this is an everyday document archiving experience. However, if you have high-quality images or small print (especially in pencil), a flatbed scanner is a better fit, as it has at least twice…

I've had several Fujitsu scanners at work and at home including my trusty ScanSnap S510. After 11 years of service it finally gave up, so I set out to find a replacement, hopefully at a better price than what I bought my S510 for. After some searching I found this scanner and wanted to share my experience after about 100 pages scanned compared to the gold standard (Fujitsu): Size: Canon is significantly larger than ScanSnap or Fi scanners. Fujitsu does a better job of stripping down the design…

Excellent investment! super easy!

I am pleased with this purchase! I was looking for a home use scanner so I can put all my documents online and reduce paperwork in my home. I kept every bill, bill, whatever, for the entire 26 years of my marriage. I know I don't need to save everything, but I figured since I've saved it for so long I might as well scan it! This scanner does EVERYTHING I want and is VERY EASY to use. My computer skills are VERY limited and I wanted something I could set up and use myself. It was very easy to…

These are just first impressions, I plan to come back and add something. I was looking for a printer to convert a few boxes of old papers into electronic format. So far I've been really impressed with the R40. I can scan with my current printer, but it's slow, noisy and not the best quality. Definitely not a candidate for what I wanted to do. Setup was easy. You need to download the 525MB software. I missed the notice on the download page directing US customers to the download link. My download
