Terrible for watercolor

Hard to believe this is watercolor paper, absorbency is terrible. It is very difficult to get it wet on wet. Even after the ink has dried, any attempt to wash it off will result in it smearing or rubbing off the paper. The only salutary feature is cheapness. It's a bit rough on colored pencil, but you can use it on pen and ink. That's all.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for old people

I love this paper best in the Painting, Drawing & Art category

I teach children to draw and need a thick material that can handle the "drawing style" of young children. I just ordered 5 more packs. I'm surprised to see people comment on tearing paper because my kids brush it so roughly with brushes and the paper held up remarkably well. I always prefer and spray it. So there is no play, no gap. I've also used it on other mediums from collage to pastel. For this price I will always have it in my studio.

Pros
  • Wide variety
Cons
  • Makes me angry

What are all the good reviews about?

I've recently started learning watercolor. I'm not creative. So take that into account in my review. The only good thing about this paper is the lack of pilling. However, it bends like crazy with a little water. At 140 pounds I was expecting less. As long as it flexes, you'd think it would absorb water quickly. It's not like this. Water basins collapse. I have purchased several bows which are amazing. I want one to practice on. I was hoping that would be it. It is not!

Takes color well. No color fading.

Colors will NOT fade. Here's a comparison and bias against Canson as the Fluid paper is heat pressed and 100% cotton. I used Schminke Horadam colors. I have three colors from Kremer (also pots) and one of the Indigo samples - Holbein (tube). Judging by the fading and piling up of complaints from other reviewers, it looks like the size has gone and they got a bad batch. I would verify who the seller was for these reviews. I haven't done many washes with it so I can't confirm any buckling. Iโ€ฆ

I really like it, I use it for watercolor and find .

I really like it, I use it for watercolor and found it doesn't flex much. I only use one clip to hold the paper, lifting color is a great feature, best I've seen. the paper doesn't allow much rubbing, you don't have to rub hard, the paint comes off so well. I use the wet watercolor technique but don't soak the paper, just dampen it and work fairly quickly, the next part is fun and this paper lifts very well. The pattern is made on this cannon paper. definitely not just for children, this paperโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

not very suitable for watercolors

I received this paper for the first time to start painting with watercolors. I've never done this before, so I didn't want to spend more. It's not super bad or super great, but good enough. You will surely get many awards compared to other brands. I also use this with my 0.5 mechanical pencil and it does an amazing job. If you only use watercolors, it will curl up a bit. Doesn't work if you want to apply many layers. If you use graphite/pencil they go very well together, I've used it forโ€ฆ

JACKPOT! Many use more than just watercolor

Let me start by saying that I have been an artist for over 30 years. I do all kinds of painting and now also paper crafts. This is the base paper BUT if you are die cutting paper for things like scrapbooking or card making this paper is twice the thickness and half the price of a 65lb thin card which costs $12-$15 for 25 sheets so is it great alternative! We buy several notebooks. and cut out things for younger children and they color them at school, make keepsake decorations etc. It holds upโ€ฆ

  • Crafts and sewing

Ideal for my target audience - children under 10 years old.

My children love, love, love watercolor paints, and at home we look through paper. The price of this product fluctuates quite a bit, so keep it in your cart for a while and keep an eye on it - if it falls below $7 I'll replenish it. It's a good heavy weight with a light texture. I love this large size because I can halve or quarter them and still give the kids a good work surface. I'm surprised at the bad reviews. To be fair, we don't usually impregnate/impregnate paper. But it does NOT eclipse
