Extremely poor documentation and unable to secure iPhone with clip

The booklet that came with it is missing details especially for use with the slide and coverslip that came with it. The brochure contains a link to the user manual in PDF format. But this link leads to a page not found. This product is so close to something useful but the kid couldn't use it and I couldn't use it. Don't waste your money on this product. It's frustrating.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

New is always better

I bought an earlier version of this unit 3 years ago and give it 5 stars. It works amazing. I bought this because it has a slide to be able to see it better. Unfortunately, a brown halo disturbs the picture. I tried calling their tech support but their automated system didn't recognize the product and therefore couldn't figure out who to connect me to. You leave me no choice but to return it. I would recommend giving it up and trying their Microbrite plus 60x-120x pocket microscope.

Magnification and picture quality are outrageous

I ordered this to go to the doctor's office to look at a deer tick that was removed from my leg. The magnification on this device was actually too high to see well. It was better than anything available at the doctor's office! I really like the little lens adapter that allows you to use your phone's camera as an accessory for easier viewing and taking photos and videos. I will keep it because it is absolutely fantastic. Picture quality, display quality is simply beyond praise for the price.

Thanks, I hate that. for binoculars and scopes

I don't hate the microscope; this thing is awesome! I hate what I can SEE through a microscope! Yes, dust mites can be seen with this thing, and they're awful. Please don't use this to go through your bed sheets or that really old sack of flour in your pantry because you'll be wondering if living like me is worth it. I've already made these mistakes, so you don't have to. The 250x zoom is a little hard to see, but the photos come out fine. For some reason 100x definitely gets sharper to the…

Impressive price and excellent field microscope

Photographs from first to last: tissue paper at 100x and 250x, small clover at 100x, 'clean' water droplet from my tank at 250x. Don't expect much for $20. I was expecting that the lighting would be of poor quality and the magnification would be lower than advertised or incorrectly increased (i.e. only enlarged the image 100x without increasing the resolution). It's not like that at all. This little plastic rectangle has some good original lenses and is relatively easy to use. I think a lot of…

Extremely powerful (too much for me)

This is a really good microscope but to be honest I have no idea how to use it effectively. Close-up shots of objects, for example to look at small writing or maybe an insect. My instinct told me that if 10X or 20X power is good, 250X power must be amazing! Unfortunately, I never realized how powerful a 100-250x magnification would be. When the magnification is so strong, you will find it difficult to focus it on what you want to see, and when you find it, your gaze will be so intense that you…

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • boring packaging

Great inexpensive field microscope

It works well, it's easy to use (both my 8 year old son and my mum figured it out pretty easily) and it's powerful enough to see things like Spirogyra cells clearly , larger dinoflagellates and other marine plankton, and oh my god, this is what the fibers of my jeans look like?!?!: This is one of my new favorite toys that I wish I had while I was in biology school. In the 80's it would have cost a few hundred dollars if not more. Optical technology has improved by leaps and bounds since then…

Media failed to load. Images from start to finish: tissue paper at 100x and 250x, a small shamrock at 100x, a "clean" drop of water from my aquarium at 250x. For €20 I wasn't expecting much.
