I had to buy 2 new mattresses because this 'waterproof' mattress topper claims to be 100% waterproof. That's an absolute lie. Don't waste your money on it. It doesn't work and if I could I would return it and send the company an invoice for the 2 new mattresses I had to buy. Terrible product. I wish I could give negative stars.

The material is very soft but not as thick as hoped. Not sure if it's because it's made for a foam mattress? We're not midgets anyway, and I really don't expect it to take more than a year. If so, I'll try to update my note. It fits well on the mattress so there are no bumps, it's comfortable and not warm at all.

I currently have two of these covers which unfortunately have to be turned when one of my pets has an accident on the bed. Notably, this isn't the type of cover that you have to put the mattress in and then zip it up (like a large ZipLoc bag around the mattress). They are incredibly difficult to put on and take off. I have read all the reviews but wanted to post this. Yes, if you put the vinyl side down it loses its ability to remain waterproof the more times you wash it. So I turned it over and put the vinyl side up. If my children have an accident, I don't have to undress and wash them. I can wipe it down with a disinfectant wipe or spray and the vinyl will remain intact and there will be no loss of strength or protection. I went back to buy another one after buying it in 2014. I had to take it apart to wash it and I noticed the waterproof layer was made of chips).
