Satisfied surprised by additive manufacturing products

I was not only pleased but genuinely surprised at how well this new build plate works. The original magnetic surface that came with the Ender5 is good, but I wanted to try switching to a glass platform. So when I found this glass platter for less than $17 (and I think $13 for a new magnetic platter) I had a hard time taking the risk. Pros: very easy installation, flat surface, good adhesion. Arrived quickly, well packaged in a box and two layers of foam. And as soon as the plate cools, theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • flatness restoration model 0.15mm: It is a combination of glass and composite. Thanks to the flatness of the glass and the uniform composite coating of the "grid" surface, the platform has excellent flatness.

but not all three. I have been using 3D printers from different manufacturers for almost 5 years and this is my main takeaway when it comes to prints. This glass print bed brags about its extra layer that supposedly provides adhesion, but in my experience it doesn't. I've tried to trust it by testing higher bed temperatures, slower print speeds, and different PLAs, but glass is glass. Some printer models, room conditions (temperature/airflow) and filament allow you to print without aโ€ฆ

I wish I had bought this sooner!

I swore I print on a magnetic platform and heard about all the problems with printing on glass so there was no reason for me to switch. Boy am I glad I did! Installation takes a few simple steps, but once the alignment is set everything works great. My very first print was great. It even jumped off the glass with ease. Adhesion wasn't a problem. One note - glass has a textured side and a smooth side. After research I decided to print on the smooth side and it suits me. You can try it and decide
