Glad I found this out in the tools and equipment section.

Worked very well for depressing caliper pistons. Worked on my truck and my wife's car. The stitching should be done fairly well. Seemed to work better than AC clamps. I'm glad I bought this. The only advice I would give is for calipers with Dule pistons, slide one back and then adjust it so you can depress both pistons at the same time. I also like that you can use a ratchet to push the pistons out.

It's the key to brake work at home

If you are a brake pad changer or want to try it, GET THIS. I'm not sure if some of the other users let them flex rather than plunger push, but that wasn't my experience. My Lexus LS430 has four piston brakes up front and he pushed them back very slightly. I've done this with water pump pliers and a few other methods, but nothing was as easy and less likely to damage the brakes than this tool. Will stay in my tool box for years to come.

Worked (motorcycle brake pad help)

This tool could be great if it could be tweaked a bit. It helped me change the pads by pushing the pistons down (which I couldn't do with my bare hands) and releasing them. However, he was severely bent. You can see in the photo that the flat metal pieces stay parallel to each other as you rotate the tool, but in reality they aren't. Like I said, they managed to apply just enough pressure to get the job done, with plenty of movement around the pistons to get the same movement from all sides. I…

Learn how to use it properly

This is a fraction of the cost of many other well known brands. It is perfect for DIY and professional use. The correct procedure for its use. 1) Fully depress and hold the brake pedal. This closes all valves in the braking system. Install a pedal hold down to keep the brake pedal depressed (very important). 2) Loosen the bleed screw and remove the caliper. 3) Leave both pads in the caliper and install this tool to depress the piston (the bleed screw must be open to drain excess fluid). 4)…

Works on 6-piston Brembo, takes a while.

Good for Brembo 6 piston calipers. However, a little work is required to compress the 6 pistons. You have to keep squeezing bottom, then top, then bottom, top, etc., because the struts aren't wide enough to ensure all the pistons (top, middle, bottom) are fully compressed at the same time. . Even with worn pads to distribute the force, the upper and lower pistons still cannot compress/retract without working up, down, and over. Having said that, it works. It's just taking a little longer than…

The product is fine but does not work with a closed caliper mount.

I received the goods in the hope of replacing an old homemade expander that has become obsolete. I have a 2015 Toyota Rav 4 and the front disc brake calipers have a closed frame which doesn't allow this type of spreader to work as it's basically two blades that you put between the piston and the pad frame. I was able to test the device on the rear brakes as they have an open frame. This worked fine, but I can see where the blade flex comments might be an issue as the force would not be applied…

A little awkward to use

I bought this to replace the front brake pads on a 2013 Audi S4. It wasn't clear to me how to use it properly, so I tried several ways: 1) - Open it up and use the insides to squeeze the plunger and close the expander. It would work if it could open further, but it barely opens enough to fit when the brakes are almost fully retracted. 2)- Close it and use the outsides to push the plunger and open the expander. It worked, but the piston, by design, pushed unevenly. Also confusing is that you can

I wish I had known that many years ago.

Simple and effective. This helped change the brake pads quickly enough to be done between races (1 hour for all brakes) with hand tools (just what fits in my 370Z's tiny trunk). drain hose into the waste bottle) while spreading the powered pistons with this tool. Draining a few dollars of fluid will greatly speed up piston distribution, especially on calipers with multiple piston pairs. And, more importantly, it prevents the brake fluid reservoir from overflowing due to fluid being forced back…
