Once you've downloaded the latest drivers for this docking station, it's bulletproof! I keep my XPS 15 closed under my desk. The dock has its own power button. So when I turn off the power for the day, it's ready to go with just a push of the dock's power button, which I keep on my desk so it's out of the way. I have two 27" Dell HD monitors. However, you depend on your laptop's graphics card to determine the monitor's capabilities.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Some issues

Let me save you hundreds of dollars and share my experience. I run two such docks in two different Dells. Small low power and high power workstation. USB turns on and off, they have random fan and power alerts, headphone jack doesn't work on either. Drivers are up to date and laptops are less than 6 months old. I've spent hours getting them to work, but they just don't work as well as the old doc that used to be tucked into the bottom of your laptop. If you're working remotely or need thoseโ€ฆ

an anemic feat of technical failure.

Can we all take a moment to understand that this "docking station", which is supposed to replace a full-fledged PC workstation in the business environment, has inferior functionality? 3 USB ports. 2 of these are so close together that only 2 of my 18 (yes, you read that right, 18) device USB ports go to these two stacked USB ports at the same time. But it gets even better! After connecting two USB devices and then removing one, the USB connector's plastic tip detached along with the USB deviceโ€ฆ

Doesn't support HDMI

Can't tell if HDMI is 2.0+ or even HDMI. Ironic because it has HDMI. I accidentally bought the USB-C version (not TB) first without doing any research to see if Thunderbolt is better. HDMI worked perfectly with it. Although it flickered for the first 5 minutes of use, over time this stopped and started working. I sent it back to order and now I get no HDMI output at all. Firmware and updates already checked, nothing. My HDMI2.0 cable works fine on my TV (not HDMI 2.0) when connected directly to

Works with 2019 MacBook Pro and Dell Latitude 7490

I bought this dock to work with two 4K displays and multiple peripherals from a Dell Latitude 7490 Thunderbolt 3 laptop. As an experiment, I connected a 2019 15" MacBook Pro to see if it would work too. Initially I had an issue where both 4K displays showed the same activity instead of working independently. System settings didn't bring a solution (neither "Display Detection" nor "Mirror Displays" - disabled). I checked my connections. I was using two Displayport connectors on the dock to power

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Great docking station for computers and accessories

This docking station works great and is easy to set up. I warn you when you buy it if you use USB-c for the monitor you CANNOT use HDMI for the second monitor, you must use one of the DP for your second monitor. Also, I've found that the dock doesn't stream HDR to a suitable monitor, but instead loops through 4K. I might be doing something wrong, but I can't get HDR to work. Overall a great docking station, quick and easy to use.

Pros
  • Works for many
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

Works with Precision 5540, stops charging after 2 months

Dock required to meet Dell Precision 5540 130W power requirements. Power supply or performance bottlenecks. It comes with a 180W power adapter with US and UK power cord ends. I'm only running a 4K display with the included USB-C cable that comes in the box. It took some work to set up, as the laptop (not the docking station) BIOS had to be updated beforehand. The docking station's USB port and Ethernet port are working. I also had to install the latest Nvidia drivers. Initially, the 4K displayโ€ฆ
