18V -> 20V upgrade part

I love this thing. I loved my 18 volt FlexLight, but in the cramped, unair conditioned space, the traditional filament complemented an already warm workspace. The LED emits a minimal amount of heat. Trigger control makes it easy to turn on, select brightness, or turn off when your hands are busy or in tight spaces. Has 2 brightness levels. I usually run it at high power, but I like the idea of a lower setting to save battery when needed. It's not only my work light, but also my home light…

Pros
  • Built-in telescoping and 360 degree rotating hook allows you to hang the device on 2 inch materials and multiple places
Cons
  • Good but not great

Solid light with serious performance

Personally I have two of these and 4 more are available at work. They see a lot of abuse and are holding up great. The other day we accidentally dropped a 25ft on deck. The 6Ah battery flew into the lake and was never seen again, but the flashlight was completely unharmed. I've seen all sorts of horrible things happen to them and none of them broke. Pros: - Very durable - Excellent power delivery - Runs practically forever on large batteries (5Ah+) - Low power mode is great for working in tight

Pros
  • Integrated telescoping and 360 degree rotating hook
Cons
  • So-so

Excellent super bright light, excellent warranty service

Update: After just over a year of using the DCL050 as a flashlight about twice a day for 10 minutes , top LED off. The light was still usable and brighter than the 2 LED alternatives but I wasn't happy that this happened to a premium product. I contacted DeWalt support and they said they would send me a replacement. The only downside was the item was delayed by 2 months but true to their word the replacement arrived today and works great. First Review: The Zone Light serves as a phenomenal…

The light is bright enough to be used as a "work light "!

I really like this LED work light. This is a great addition to my line of 20v Dewalt tools and the battery lasts forever. I used it for the first time within 4 hours and my battery still shows a full charge. I've seen several complaints that the light wasn't bright enough. It's not relevant. This flashlight is designed for people who need a work light. It's great for mechanics, HVAC repairs, plumbing, and similar jobs. If the light was brighter it wouldn't work because it would bounce off the…

DeWalt / Makita comparison

I have both a DEWALT DCL050 flashlight and a Makita DML801 flashlight. Both work well although I prefer the Makita which has been going well for 10 years. Makita - The top folds 180 degrees to fold completely, making it more durable for transport and more compact in your tool box. DeWalt - Top foldable 90 degrees. degrees (in the description, the 140-degree turn is explained by the fact that it also curves back 50 degrees). Makita - The pivot engages well with every click. The top rotates 180…

Not bright as advertised. Printed packaging

I received a Dewalt DCL050 work light today. The Dewalt packaging says 1000/300 lumens but the product description on Revain says 250/500 lumens. The Dewalt website also says 250/500 lumens. Called Dewalt to find out what was true. The representative stated that this model has been upgraded to 300/1000 lumens as stated on the box. Light test carried out on a light gray living room wall. Turn this light up to maximum (1000) and you'll immediately see that it's not as bright as my other 1000…

Great portable work light!

I really like this lamp. I do HVAC, this light puts out a decent amount of light where you need it and the best part is there is no cord. I like the way the head turns backwards. I used it a few days ago when replacing a duct system in a house with a very low roof. It ran for about three hours on a 2 amp hour battery. I've also used it to replace a fan motor on another unit in the attic. If I know I'm going to be in the attic or under the house for a long time, I take that with me. I always…

It's damn bright! Ideal for hanging under the hood when working on the car.

So I originally bought this for camping use from my 4Runner that I'm converting to an RV. However, the first use for me was when I was working on the damn red ECU of a Toyota 4Runner. I have some DeWalt batteries at the moment and thought this would be a great way to keep my AGM and Li-Ion batteries in my 4Runner that are used for other equipment/lighting etc. Battery performance seems high even at a small 1.5 Ah. thin 20 volt batteries that I often use in my little driver for fast work. I…
