Description of 🏃 Highly Efficient DIYmall HC SR501 Motion Infrared Arduino for Enhanced Arduino Projects

Use Potentiometer 105, output timing is from 0.5S to 200S. Same product link https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CSM3K63. NOTE: On this retrigger jumper is a solder jumper, and you need solder it by yourself. Pls note that there is no IR emitter in this module, the principle of PIR sensor is to detect the infrared radiation emitted by the human body, it only have a IR sensor (cell). Package Included: 5 X HC-SR501 PIR Infared Sensor. If any question, pls contact us by email. You can find " Sold by DIYmall" under Buy Now button, click "DIYmall" and you will get to a new page, click "Ask a question".

Four stars best in security and surveillance

Timeout delay only increases from 5s to 9s Far from advertised 0.3 to 200s Revised rating: I still think that the description is misleading but I was able to get the desired results by desoldering the Tx potentiometer and soldering in my own custom sized resistor.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Out of fashion

There are no retrigger contacts, just bare solder pads.

They work as long as you don't bother changing the trigger mode. Why? Because the ones I received didn't actually have "H/L" jumpers. They were just bare pads. I made a jumper on one of them to set it to "L", the pad came off immediately. It's pretty annoying. I only need to fire it once when there is movement, so now I have to change my code to only fire on the rising flank.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • I have no particular complaints about it, everything is fine

Remove the protective plastic bubble to see which pin is GND, 5V and OUTPUT. I connected them to my Arduino. Set the pin as INPUT and again as INPUT_PULLUP and it will never move from HIGH. I've searched the web for clues, tried the ones I found, but these things seem useless. First Arduino sensor/component/something in 5 years that was NOT BAD out of a foil bag. Say hello to my little trash can.

Good IR sensor, watch out for input voltage

Good IR sensor and good price for 5. Packaged well, all 5 work. Jumpers in the high/low settings and additional links to documents here would help earn a fifth star. The best documents I've found are by googling "Henrysbench HC-SR501 Arduino Tutorial and Guide" (Revain won't let me post a direct link). Two things worth noting: - Without changing jumper settings, they are set to high (repeating) mode - Running them even A BIT below 5V can result in repeated false alarms (i.e. "blink" on/off on…

Better Than Pre-Built Motion Sensor Light Switch

I first bought a pre-built 'smart' motion sensor light switch that was WAY too sensitive and couldn't be adjusted. Decided to go the DIY route and buy it. I connected one to a NodeMCU that I set up with Home Assistant using MQTT (along with a simple 'smart' switch with no motion sensor). It's amazing, gives me a lot more control and is cheaper. I get some false alarms, but not as many as with the off-the-shelf device. I suspect it's because it's in a garage and the sensor picks up…

Couldn't get them to work with Arduino WiFi Rev2

Tried 3 out of 5 sensors and none of them worked with Arduino Uno WiFi Rev2. I thought the Arduino might not be providing enough voltage, but after measuring it with a multimeter, I registered 5.01V. The two devices pulled the output pin high a couple of times, but then no motion was detected. The remaining block always had the output pin high. I took one to work and hooked it up to a desktop power supply and an oscilloscope and it behaved the same from 5v to 8v. The volume was always recorded…

  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Fix

For the price unbeatable.

VCC and ground connected to the 12V power supply and everything worked perfectly. There was even enough current at the 3.3V("OUT") "Trigger" pin to power the red LED directly (although it's a little dimmer than usual). Very wide sensitivity chart. The description says "<100 degrees". I thought it was over 120. At its default sensitivity, it easily fires at 8-10ft. I never adjusted it as it was the perfect distance for my needs. Hold it so that the sensor's "dome" is facing down and the…

0/5 Good for security and surveillance systems

They wasted several hours of my time when they didn't work. I tried having them run the Magic Mirror 2 Raspberry Pi to power it up from someone who fits, but got confused when after connecting it showed gpio output with gpio readall in putty high. I hooked it up to my multimeter to measure the ground voltage signal and no matter what I did they never went from 4.47 to 4.55V - ON ALL 5 SENSORS I HAVE. strange that it had to fall eventually, but no. I tried connecting it to "restart config"…

Pros
  • This reboot jumper has a solder jumper and you need to solder it yourself
Cons
  • Expensive

The good ones are good but different.

Probably the most popular IR sensor. It is easy to use and very sensitive. But before you build your project around one, I suggest you set up a test to see if they report detection reliably or maybe overreport. Of the 5 bought, 2 consistently reported people who just weren't there (or maybe reported ghosts?). With all 5 set to maximum sensitivity, I first tested that all 5 detect motion - they did. I then pointed them at the wall and had them report sightings every hour throughout the night…

Good module for manufacturer

These modules are excellent for most applications for which they are intended. If you need a very tight movement (between 2 meters and 2 millimeters) you need sound sensors. I tested them with ESP-12 and got great results. For those who complain about false alarms and unreliable readings. If you switch a GPIO pin to input and hang a long cable from it, that cable can pick up noise and cause the voltage on the GPIO pin to change. This can trick the system into believing that the switch has…
