I can drive my truck again :)

I was having trouble shifting out of the parking lot, the shifter wouldn't move. I replaced this part with a YouTube video. It took a few minutes and since I had already disassembled everything I also replaced the gear indicator bulb.

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • Modernity

Great value for money in switches

I watched some youtube videos and was able to install this on my Ford Explorer myself. The hardest part was taking the console apart. But the installation itself was easy. It took me about 90 minutes but if I was familiar with what I'm doing it would probably take me about 20-30 minutes. Once the console was powered off, it literally took less than 2 minutes to turn it off.

Suitable and possible error

2010 for conductors. So physically fit technically yes. But the original chip had three holes with a pin on the mount for it. This chip only had two holes so I had to cut out a post. The jury is still out, had a few issues and sometimes when I leave the car in neutral and come back the silonoid clicks on its own so I don't know if it will last. I'll order it from Ford

Fits 2010 Mercury Mountaineer

We helped a neighbor by installing this in his 2010 Mercury Mountaineer after he got stuck at the park. He comes and does his work; The car is now leaving the parking lot. Some people say you can do this repair without removing the entire center console (i.e. just removing the top panel), but I couldn't do that. I had to remove the entire center console but it was still an easy fix. I found the price here at Revain to be about 20-30% lower than auto parts stores. I can't say anything about…

Years ago Ford sent out a recall notice but…

Years before Ford sent out a recall notice but back then we had no issues and the fact that all of our Ford products have always been the most reliable we've ever had to return to the retailer so we put it on hold. Now that we had this problem the review was closed and we had to pay for this repair. Instead I went to You-Tube and found a video on how to replace this part that even had a part number. I ordered a part from Revain and replaced it myself. Problem solved.

  • Easy to use

Easy to fix yourself

My 2006 Ford Explorer XLT had a problem shifting from park to reverse that was fixed. It's amazing how easy I can switch now! Installation instructions: First disconnect the battery. Then remove the oval plastic cover around the switch. Then unscrew the cup holder section. Then the difficult part. Use a long screwdriver to create a wedge between the switch on the left and the channel on the right. You really have to bend the air duct a bit to get the needle nose pliers in there. Remove the old…

Make a big wedge with a big screwdriver, hammer, etc.!

Taking out the white box wasn't too bad and changing the shift lock module (chip) was easy too. BUT . Insert the box and connect the wires to it. Terrible headache. First, insert something large between the black plastic tube and the spot with the wires. This will greatly facilitate the work. Also, with the help of a young relative (son, nephew, etc.), you can return the wires to the white box. Just tell them which cables go where. Aside from the headache of installing it, it works great and…

2006 Explorer better than OEM replacement

This part is better than the OEM part it replaced. You can tell the board is more reliable than the original, which is probably why it has so many issues on 4th gen Explorers. If you can't push the button on the switch to get out of the parking lot, this is the part you need. My O/D button installed on the switch also didn't work, but it also connects to this board and retains full functionality once installed. This part can be replaced without removing the center console, but the console is…

Works well but hasn't worked for a long time

I wasn't sure if it was a problem with my 2008 "Sometimes" Explorer not wanting to go out of park but I had to try something. It was a PITA that needed to be installed due to its location but it works as it should. UPDATE: I changed my rating to 1 because it only lasted a month. I didn't know what else to try so I took my explorer into the garage as I had just replaced the lock, they didn't think it could be a problem (so I needed more work to fix it) . The module failed and as my 30 days have…
