Fantastic tool! About learning and education

We use it as a "math break" for home study. Since it's not a mental exercise or on paper, my son (definitely a gamer) enjoys working with it. I like that you can set levels for almost different difficulty levels. It is very convenient for those who are studying. This is not a one-off tool, but one that can be used throughout the school year, if not longer.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • I don't really like it, everything is fine

Number 8 button does not work in educational mode

We have just received this educational toy and we are very excited. It took about 5 minutes for my son to show me that the number 8 button didn't work. It works in calculator but not in study mode. If there is a mathematical case, for example 4+4=, no matter how many times we press the number 8, nothing will appear on the screen. Same for level, we cannot select level 8. Too bad it's coming back.

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Good training device, suitable for electronic learning toys

My son (2nd grade) doesn't like competitions and doesn't like math very much. Over the summer I needed to make sure he did the bare minimum of math practice, so I bought this math shark. He played with it for 30 minutes as soon as it arrived and then took it with him. After about 2 weeks I challenged him to do one of several tasks, one of which was to do addition and subtraction tests and see how long it would take, which he did. He did it again the next day to compare the results. Now he does…

Waste of money

I bought this for my two sons last November (based on rave reviews) and didn't insist they try it right away (it was a Hanukkah gift and I failed the test before the end the holidays). The display is very difficult to read so the guys resisted using it and I removed it to try again another time. Now 9 months later we need some math practice so I took it out and put in new batteries only to find that one of the LED elements had failed making it hard to tell which number is showing. So I think…

Excellent, especially when using the timesheet.

I bought six and used them for several years with my third graders and created a multiplication table for them to keep track of their time. When they met my target time for them individually at level 2, they were able to move on to the next exercise number. Once they had completed all of the level 2 objectives, they could proceed to level 3. I repeated this for the department and all my students were ready for fourth grade with a solid grasp of the facts. Five minutes a day was enough. I left…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Periodicity

It works for my kids

Math Shark is surprisingly popular with my daughter. She is 7 years old, she can multiply, but she does not master all multipliers. She loves practicing speed by skill and level and using the calculator functions to earn points for playing dominoes and poker. Someone complained about the dim light or the lack of a backlight. Thing is, kids with good eyesight don't care. Most of the time, they don't need a backlight. Math Shark is really good at separating skill levels and setting tasks. That's…

Highly recommended for math

This device seems to be the best version of the multiplication master. My older child has ASD and is doing much better. He likes his "games" to be loud, but not too loud. This game ticks that box. It also cannot create games with timer components. The multiplication master device has a countdown timer that I can't turn off, and it's freaking out with worry. This Math Shark game allows him to move at his own pace. Another bonus is that it has a variety of exercises so it can be practiced in…

So far so good with e-learning toys

My daughter has only had this toy for a few weeks, but she learned so quickly that she learned half of the third grade lesson plan in one day! That's great! The reviewer complained that you can't change the contrast, but you can. Just read the user manual. Another reviewer complained that it doesn't show you the correct answer if you make an error, but it does. Just before moving on to the next task, it displays the correct answer for about two seconds. The problem then returns at the end of…

Very happy with the product

I rarely review products but I advise friends and family to buy this one so I decided to post it. I love this product. It was the only thing that helped my kid learn math facts. The ONLY negative thing I can say about it is that the screen is (as everyone says) small and hard to read and the font looks like it's from the early computer days. I bought this online from Revain for my kid who needed to learn 'math facts' about multiplication and hadn't mastered it yet and her class was moving on to

Pros
  • Excellent design

  • There are flaws
