📻 NAXA Electronics NPB-268 Premium Portable CD/Cassette Boombox in Black Review

I've spent a lot of time researching countless boombox reviews. Lots of negative reviews. I've been wary of newer products, which tended to have fewer reviews (of course) and tended to be more positive. Reluctantly bought a new model NAXA NPB-268. The sound quality isn't top notch, but it's what you'd expect from a device this cheap. There is an audible mechanical squeak/creak when playing CDs. It's only really noticeable when listening with headphones, but once you've got it you'll notice it every time. Very annoying. The tape player is adequate but to be honest I don't really trust it, especially when it comes to playing irreplaceable cassettes. It's ok for the price, but there are better alternatives for a little more money.

Product looks like the picture but doesn't work properly. The buttons are all upside down. The fast forward button rewinds and the fast forward button fast forwards. This is for the cassette player part. I only bought the unit to listen to old school cassettes, but the cassette deck is so loud that you can't hear the contents of the cassette. I paid A LOT more for these Sonys with horrible sound (noise in the plastic case) and red and black Blackwebs that didn't last 9 months but this little git can do it all. Received with the LCD cover removed, no problem! Made an awful rumble when you first turned it on, you turned the volume down for a minute or two, you can live. The LCD went out after 30 days. Called NAXA and was told I could send it back to them for repair, shipping would be my responsibility and to send an additional $20. So give me the block back! BIG! Let me start by saying that I bought a Sony for $80. The AM/FM antenna in my house was having trouble receiving FM stations and would not pick up AM stations. NAXA easily received both AM/FM stations without an antenna. What struck me about both the Sony and the Naxa, having owned either type of device in the past, is the reduction in size since the Naxa is so small.
