Sandpaper pads not suitable for drums

First I used the smallest drum with the highest grit sandpaper and it worked fine. When. I have used other sizes of drums and sandpaper for all drum sizes, they were too big, the press just fell off when the sander started spinning or pressure was applied to the sanding part.

Pros
  • Recommended for DIY, art, wood, plastic and metal work.
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Project Saver for Rounds

They work really well on something round/curved I originally got them by removing rust from my iron fence which has a lot of bent metal bits on it 4 sizes have worked great on different parts of the fence A problem I have initially had was that the screw that expands the rubber drum to keep the sandpaper tightened over time when the bit was set to 'forward' My solution was to change the direction of the drill while working from Change from time to time, this way the drum never got too tight or…

Pros
  • Set of 4 expansion drums, 2" long, available in 1-1/2", 1", 3/4" and 1/2" diameters.
Cons
  • Not bad, but..

I may work slower than others, but I haven't had to adjust the speed of the drill and have found that just light pressure gives very satisfactory results with a few passes. The 80 grit had a good balance of speed and removal control and left a smooth enough surface for making router templates, while the 150 grit left a very smooth finishable surface. I used as large a spindle as the curvature would allow. The…
