Great portable radio

I had a Grundig (then Eton) clockwork radio for many years. An analog tuner would NEVER hold a station. I saw it on Amazon (it's a radio store) and noticed that it has a DIGITAL tuner. He fixates on the station and never gives up on it. It is powered by AC adapter (not included), batteries (3 type A) or dynamo (crank). It tunes into AM-FM and weather channels 1-7. On the back there is a USB port for charging devices and a headphone jack. It also has a built-in flashlight and a handle for easy…

Good emergency radio for natural disasters.

This is a very good emergency radio. Has a USB port to charge my Android phone. The built-in batteries are a pair of AAA NiMH batteries. So don't expect a charge to last too long, but it does. The built-in single LED flash is sufficient for close to mid-range illumination, but any specialty brand LED flash will likely outperform it. Has a compartment for two AA batteries if you don't want to operate the radio. Overall a very good emergency radio for the price. Bought because here in South…

Works well for the low current price, but it's not a DSP.

Since it is not a DSP, it has reception problems without the antenna raised, which is not necessary with most DSP radios. It's a (if you can call it that) DSP replacement, but it's also not as good as the Kaito KA346, Radio Shack's version of the DSP has part number 2000655, but the Kaito KA346 is much better for the same radio functions. plus now costs $30 when purchased directly from American distributor "Electonnix". It has excellent weak signal capture. AM capability (a clear issue with…

  • The list is getting big.

Bought in case of power outage as we were in an unstable area. We used it once a year ago and then I just tested it again and it works great. My husband had a great idea to turn off the battery until we need it to avoid accidentally draining the battery. So I would advise you to disconnect this cable as it comes out very easily. PROS: Works as advertised CONS: The screw in the charging handle came loose but I just had to screw it back in. If you're using it for your hiking bag, make sure you…

Good portable emergency radio

It has everything you could want in an emergency radio: manual dynamo, emergency strobe light, emergency strobes, dedicated weather channel, weather alert, AM-FM bands. The sound is good for a portable radio. My husband carries it everywhere he goes to work, in the garage or on the street, instead of his car radio. We use rechargeable batteries in it and I'd say 3 AA batteries will last around 48-72 hours of continuous use depending on how loud the volume is. We got this to replace our old Eton

  • Easy to set up

  • Little things

Good radio for the money

Good radio for the money. The build quality is good and I was impressed with the reception quality. Running on 3 AA batteries in addition to manually charging the radio with the 'handle' is a nice feature. Results may vary, but here is what I experienced - 100 spins - 9 minutes 200 spins - 14 minutes 300 spins - 22 minutes 500 spins - 35 minutes 1000 spins - 55 minutes 300 spins took about 2 minutes, 1000 took about 10 minutes . including a brief pause to rest, my hand rotates every few…

Great battery powered radio

We needed a radio that could run on batteries during a power outage and be big enough to be easy to find but not too big. This radio is exactly the size we wanted, has lots of stations and even has a little flashlight function. If you need a radio for everyday use, look for another radio as it doesn't come with a power adapter. It also has a start function, but we will use it with batteries. Update: I bought an adapter so I can run it on electricity too. Revan sells them. The Enercell(tm)…

Good emergency radio.

Good emergency block. It can be powered in three ways (plug, batteries or crank). It has AM/FM and weather frequencies. It's good enough for a portable radio. At my location I can receive three different weather channels, the furthest being about 50 miles away. I'm a radio amateur and while this radio doesn't pick up stations like some of the Grundigs I own, it does the job perfectly. I would have no problem getting information with this radio in an emergency. This radio has enough light to…

Surprisingly nice little radio

FM reception is decent. The sound is more than decent, bordering on not bad (for news and the like). I haven't had to use the Dynamo feature yet, but it seems pretty easy to use. With AA batteries it lasts for months with several hours of FM use per day. The indicator flashes when the battery is low. The flashlight isn't all that impressive, but I don't think it draws much power when I need it (and it can be disconnected from a charged dynamo if all else fails). Can't comment on how well the…
