Restricted software functionality

Pros – Incredibly fast. Can scan photos of almost any size at the speed of light. Recovery is pretty good, but old photos could be improved (e.g. change blue color to green). I love that it's wireless, but you still need to be close to your computer to be able to name files and such. .one. You cannot change the name of a photo individually like you can in most other types of software. You must name it individually before scanning. Example: You have 100 photos for a specific event, e.g. B. a…

Damage Photos: Scanners and Accessories

This is for FF-680W (NOT refurbished). Like another customer, I bought and received the device quickly. Installing the software was extremely easy and photos are scanned very quickly as advertised. I used 600 dpi resolution and the quality seemed normal (not amazing) but good enough to put online and give to my parents. After reading about photo damage I have a large stash of 4x6 and 3x5 glossy photos to pre-test. I did a few tests and actually noticed that on all tests a few lines appeared in…

The main disadvantage of this device is LOST PHOTOS

I was very impressed with this device at first, but now I'm very frustrated with its construction. I probably have 25 photo albums and thousands of photos. This device is specifically designed to scan all of this. Here's the main downside: you know you'll be processing batches of 36 photos at a time. Understandable if for some reason the scanner gets stuck on a particular photo in the middle of a batch. It's okay, clear the jam and move on. That's the problem. If you have 36 photos and the…

Almost a Great Product

This device has the potential to be a phenomenal product, but it has a potentially serious flaw. I've scanned over 5,000 prints with it and found an issue with a bluish spot in the center of the scan, clearly visible on faces and white backgrounds. I contacted Epson and they replaced my first device. The new one was ok for a while, but now it is too. This is particularly frustrating as it is unstable. After extensive testing, all I can say is that the flatness of the photo is (unsurprisingly)…

Matching the hype from Epson.

Updated at the end of the day on January 2, 2019. I have completed 4000 scans of all types of photographs. Many were black and white in a square format. These are photos from the 30's, 40's and 50's. I've also scanned many documents of all sizes and from different sources. Everything is scanned with no problems. None of the photos were damaged. All jams were caused by user error. === In most cases the "enhanced" version was much better than the "unmodified". However, the unmodified version was…

Saved my sanity

I bought this mainly to help a friend digitize photos. Her mother had recently passed away, leaving her with seemingly innumerable scattered photos and albums. I committed to helping her and brought my flatbed scanner with me, unaware of the gravity of the task ahead. On the first day I took less than 100 photos this way for six hours and cleaned it - it was clearly not a working solution for the required print volume. I started looking for a scanner with a document. Feeder even before I left…
