As with most hand tools

As with most hand tools, you are paying for build quality. This is no exception. They had to be disassembled, cleaned and deburred, and the sharp edges filed. But they were dead when they got what they are for.

Absolute rubbish. to measurement and layout tools

First problem: markers keep detaching and falling out. Absolutely annoying. Second question: none of the squares are correct. There was a problem with the tension screw that holds the ruler. I can get them to work a little if I go to the surface panel and lean it against the block. The problem is who the hell has time for that. Unfortunately, my return deadline just passed, so I basically have two seventy dollar lines. Squares are complete bullshit. Spend a little more and have Starrett.

Not bad, but not great either.

Really unfortunate that the coating on the blade of the longer square was damaged in three places - freshly packaged! A side note: these are far from "straight edges" - the tolerances on the edges of the blades are such that I can see daylight through them when the edges are joined. They're not bad for sheet metal work - about the minimum I'd be happy to accept. They are truly square, with precise markings. They hold the blade very tightly, which is good. Overall I feel like they could be…

Inferior - save your money!

I managed to fit the 12 inch ruler in the square on only one side. I decided I didn't want to own something so poorly designed and difficult to use. Life is too short, don't make me think. I ended up buying a higher quality Starrett combo set. The pain of high costs is short-lived, but quality lives forever. When I have a job I want to focus on that and not try to figure out why the tool isn't working as it should. If IGaging didn't design it to be easy to use, then I guess they didn't design…

OK Best quality measuring and marking tools

They are cheaper than Starrett squares but not as good as Starrett. I have 2 sets, a 12" and a 6" combo square. The 12" was perfectly accurate, but I had to adjust the 6" with a file to get it right. That disappointed me, but I can live with that. What's even more frustrating is that they're difficult to snap into place. I really have to turn the little knob to keep them in place. Getting the square in the right position only to have it drift as I use it is frustrating. If you can't afford…

In view of the price, it needs to be improved a little first.

pretty decent. I had the Starrett version which is definitely better but way more expensive and too powerful for all the woodwork I will be doing. In my opinion, they are not ready to work. I spent about 15 minutes on each edge, including the raw edges on the straight piece. I ended up with a fairly slick, well-made pair of tools. If I used them every day I would buy Starretts and if I used them on the road I would just use my Stanley. Overall they are great for my indoor wood workshop and…

Poor fit and finish, ends not square

At this price I expected the tools to be well made. Not perfection, but instruments that had a reasonably good fit and finish. That was not the case with this set. The channel on the sliding ruler was unacceptably rough, making adjustment difficult. The set screw appeared to be ground all the way to tighten or loosen. The ruler itself had abrasions on both sides. The ends of the rules were so wrong that daylight filtered through the gap as the ends touched. They didn't even try to fix the typos

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Surprised by the difference between this and the square store

So I could never understand why people buy expensive squares. I bought this mid-range set based on a book recommendation and am very glad I did. I always use cheap but accurate angles from the hardware store. The advantage of a more expensive square, in my opinion, is the accuracy of the markings on the blade. The markings are thinner and therefore more accurate. They are pressed deeper into the blade than simply painted on the blade; This in turn makes them more accurate as the color tends to…

Solid, easy to use, clear markers.

I am a carpenter/carpenter with over 20 years of experience. I went through countless combination squares. My choice has always been the UK Stanleys, but they don't seem to be available anymore, at least not at a reasonable price. I was sick of squares slipping, so I had to overtighten the nut every time I used it, leading to inevitable failure. I have bought well known brand square squares that were not square but rotated slightly 2+ degrees. It's enough to matter. These squares are as square…

Great set of combinations of squares!

Nice combo box set. I was initially hesitant to buy them instead of Starrett, but for the price I should have at least tried. If they didn't match the description I would just send them back as it was a prime purchase. Fortunately this was not the case. I cleaned and oiled both squares before checking their accuracy. I tested the 6" and 12" squares on my Kinex 875/1 machine square for 0.0005 and a pair of 1-2-3 blocks and both squares are accurate. I checked the inside and outside alignment…
