Perfect. Just what I needed

The original outer shell of my key broke when I started the car. I called the dealer and they said $300 plus the cost of reprogramming the remote. Since the internals were undamaged, I ordered this key fob, took it to a locksmith and they only charged me $20 to shorten the key and even put in the old parts from the original key. Overall under $30 versus $300+ at the dealer. No, it's understandable.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons

A pleasant surprise.

The key fobs were identical to my originals except for the car make stamped when the key fob was replaced. All parts were present and easy to assemble. Just waiting to find a locksmith to carve the key. Apparently not all blacksmiths know how to do this. First check who will cut the key. Car agencies will do this but may charge a surprise fee. I also recommend replacing the battery before transferring the transponder to a new key fob. Once everything is in place you will have an amazing amount…

Be careful who you end up with

I bought one of these and took it to my local hardware store to carve a key. The key was not cut out in the same way and the car would not start. I ordered another one and took it to a reputable shop to have the key made. There was also no perfect copy. Looks like the operator should have told the machine it was a programmable button. My electronics and key work great opening the doors, but I still have to use my spare original key to start the car. Make sure whoever cuts the key understands…

  • Pretty impressive

Works as intended on broken keys, no programming required

My key broke and I didn't want to pay the dealer for a new one. This key was perfect as it was just a sink and it was cheap to carve with any plumbers. Opened up my old key and transferred all the insides to this new case. THE CHIP OF THE OLD KEY CAN BE TRANSFERRED. So the chip is a small rectangular box on the inner shell (separate from the remote control) of the old key. You can just take it out and put it in this new case and the key will work. No programming required.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons

Great replacement key, affordable option with little work

My Camry key shell cracked and the tape was pretty ugly so I bought this as a repair rather than going to the Toyota dealership and getting GOOD. Gave the key to a locksmith to have it duplicated and it cost $10 and then a small security chip had to be moved from the old case to the new case. Watching YouTube videos made this task relatively easy. If this does not happen, then the car with a new key will not start, but simply open the door. It only took 5 minutes to move the chip after watching

Pros
  • Decent performance

  • Expensive

Don't let the dealer fool you!

Don't let the dealer rip you off! I drive a 2007 Toyota Camry and the real metal part flew out of the plastic casing so I had to stick the blade into the casing and squeeze it really hard when starting the car. I went to my local locksmith after this new blade and sheath came in the mail and they put everything in this new sheath, cut the blade to fit the ignition and what you know it works. There is a tiny chip in the old plastic case. If a locksmith doesn't put it in a new case, your car…

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons

This product is a joke.

I bought this for my 2010 Toyota Corolla S because one of my keys broke. I was able to remove the remote from the original key and put it in this one, no problem, it fits like a glove. I took the key to a local locksmith, they cut it for a dollar - no problem. Received the key to the house, opened the trunk and the doors via the remote control with no problems. I put the key in the ignition and tried to start the car. A BIG PROBLEM! The car appears to be trying to start but will not start…

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Something else

I made the mistake of buying 2 and cutting them off at my local hardware store only to find out I need a programmed chip just to unlock the door and trunk. I knew I would need a programmed key to turn the car on, but I was hoping to use it as an extra key if I ever accidentally locked my original key in the car. Maybe Amazon will refund my money but I just wanted to share this with anyone trying to do the same as me. I've heard of some keys that only work on non-chip doors, but unfortunately…

  • Trivia

We did what we did for: a new cover for the programmable remote control, as well as a blank key. Attention buyers: 1) There is no remote control inside. You have to go to the dealer to get it and have it programmed into your vehicle. 2) In most if not all locations it is possible to cut off the key provided so that it can actually start your car. In my experience two shops have said they can't cut this key (which is considered a third party key and they are not allowed to cut it) and one said…
