Works perfectly! for smoke alarms and fire alarms

Relay works great. I like the normally open and normally closed options. It's a bit of an uphill battle with all the wires already in the smoke alarm box. If I had that in mind, I would use a deeper socket when building a house.

  • Delivery was very fast

Samsung SmartThings Home Automation Interface

This connection relay allowed me to connect my interconnected Kidde smoke detectors as an input to my SmartThings home automation system using a modified device type handler and a regular Z-Wave contact sensor with external contacts . . With this configuration, if one of our fire alarms goes off, SmartThings will send an alert to my phone and turn on all automated lights by nightfall to make leaving the house safer. Kidde's product is simple: a dry contact power supply and relay that connects…

Great module - even better customer service!

This module does what it was designed to do. This was an easy setup and works with my FireX detectors. I had a problem with the device (it turned out to be my fault, not the module) and the company responded very quickly and within hours. I fixed my problem and it works great. I used this to add my smoke alarms to the Smartthings Hub. I used a Monoprice Zwave open/close contact connected to this relay. The community then used a custom device type. Thinking about possibly adding mimolite to be…

Inexpensive Smoke Alarm & Fire Alarm Design

I have this to activate the fire bell and strobe light outside my detached garage when there is a fire inside. Just rebuilding after the fire burned for over 3 hours in the middle of the night before anyone noticed. This should work for my needs, but they could have put this in a sealed box, it's just a 4 inch piece of heat shrink tubing around the circuit board and sandwiched between the wires. Unfortunately, with a device that is only needed if the building is on fire, I have to ensure that…

Works well with First Alert smoke alarms

I bought this relay to connect wired smoke alarms to my existing alarm system. My smoke alarms are First Alert and I originally bought their relays for almost double the price. It worked once for about 2 seconds and then didn't work again so I returned it and bought this one. Zero issues, tested on a workbench and then field tested and had no issues at all. It all contributed to the apparent non-functioning of the Leeo monitor I've had for about five years following the company's bankruptcy…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Update available

I had a wired smoke alarm in my house when I bought it. A wired system has certain advantages as a wired connection provides power so the batteries used for backup will last a very long time and more importantly if an alarm goes off they will all go off. So if the bedroom is on fire, everyone gets up at the same time. I also have a nice DIY home automation system using Samsung SmarthThings. It offers things like text alerts when there's water in my water heater's sump, automatic text when I…

Great addition to Kidde FireX smoke alarms

This is a great way to connect smoke alarms to another system, be it an alarm system, a computer or something else. With a little knowledge of electrical engineering, you can hook up lights or strobe lights, remote dialers, whatever you want. According to the instructions, you can also use it to trigger an alarm, e.g. B. a fire switch in public buildings. connected alarm clocks! VICTORY!) and hooked it up to the alarm input of a pan/tilt internet camera (many of the popular ones in the $60…

Worked as expected!

Easy installation and clear instructions. I have used this relay and a 120-24v transformer to power 24v strobe lights and horn/siren units throughout my house. When the relay is activated it supplies 120v to my transformer which supplies the necessary 24v to turn on the strobes and siren. Was it necessary in my house? no But this is a unique installation, and now you can't confuse it with smoke in my house! This would be very helpful for people with hearing/visual impairments. I also like that…

Great for Honeywell Vista Series Alarms

This worked great for connecting Kidde smoke detectors to my Honeywell Vista 21ip alarm system. I also bought a CO120x to monitor my interconnected Kidde CO detectors. A few installation notes: I walked 14-3 nautical miles from a smoke alarm in my basement to a 4-11/16 inch junction box with a bypass switch. The switch allows me to deactivate the relay if I get false alarms. I did some research and found that the NO and NC circuits remain de-energized when the power is removed. Shutting off…
