Good price and value

Easy to use on drywall. There are no pins to poke holes in the wall. This gauge will either confirm or dispel your suspicions if you think you have damp walls.

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Has some flaws

Priceless when buying a used RV

I am buying a used RV in Seattle during the winter. If there's moisture in the wall, he'll find it. This has saved me thousands of dollars and a lot of headaches.

Pros
  • Best in Niche
Cons

I like it, but not always exactly.

Wet area detection behind the wall. Removed the drywall only to find the metal that probably caused it to shut down. I don't think this is unique to this brand but more due to the technology behind these moisture detectors that don't use probes. Before purchasing this item, I had a leak detection "professional" with a different brand. I bought this tool to confirm her findings only to have us both wrong.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Protection

Works perfectly; very accurate.

I accidentally flooded the kitchen and the water got under the parquet. The water damage contractor installed appropriate dehumidifiers and fans, and raised the floor a few inches. I bought a Klein Tools ET140 to monitor my drying progress and was able to compare the ET140's accuracy to the very expensive units that water damage technicians had. The readings were very close; The technicians were impressed and I received confirmation that I have an accurate moisture meter.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • A lot

Goes well with parquet floors

Water has gotten under our wooden floors from the outside, causing some of the floors to warp. I needed a device to determine the extent of the water problem. I initially used a pin gauge but its usefulness was limited in my situation as the only way to measure moisture was by sticking pins between the floorboards. After reading the reviews I ordered a Klein ET140 which easily found the extent of the problem. I didn't need the exact moisture content but the difference between dry and wet…

Just seems inaccurate

I don't recall reading anything about the product that says it's suitable for plaster on walls, but there are many false positives. I had a small leak in my roof and wanted to understand how serious it was so I was hoping this would help. He barely seemed to notice the dry patch of plaster compared to feeling a little more damp in an area that was clearly slightly damp (a small patch of water was visible where it was wet). However, the humidity seems to be too high at any setting compared to…

Pros
  • Excellent overall
Cons
  • Doubtful

Works but has some inconveniences

Cannot speak with accuracy. Otherwise: OPERATION: Easy to use. No instructions required. No need to enter wood types, just select hardwood or softwood (or drywall or masonry). BATTERY: Requires a screwdriver to open the battery cover. This is undue annoyance. Battery covers should always be opened without a screwdriver unless it is a toy for young children who could swallow the battery. PACKAGING: It uses hard plastic bubbles that cannot be recovered and are painful to open. For many years…

Pros
  • Light display with bright reverse contrast display
Cons
  • Older model

Great device and reasonable price.

Reverse reading means no holes in the substance being measured. Hold it horizontally in the area you're looking at and you'll instantly get a percentage reading. Wipe it on a wall or ceiling for instant results. We have an RV and there was a leak in the roof. I needed to know whether or not to smash the roof, and if so, how much. I was hoping to expel the moisture after sealing the outside. I opened a few vents and turned on the heater. I could watch the humidity drop until everything was back…

Pros
  • Easily selectable materials with mode selection button; Drywall, Masonry, Hardwood, and Softwood
Cons
  • I'll write later
