With a little skill you can do it! Do not be afraid!

Existing Liberty pump model 403, discontinued. I used the original 403 bucket and installed this pump in it. I had to remove a support rib with a belt sander to allow the float to move up and down freely. I had to purchase a 1 1/2" to 1 1/4" nylon adapter sleeve to install the PVC pressure pipe on the pump. Also, I cut 3/4" off the top of the exhaust pipe for the cap to fit properly. Finally, I cut off 1/8" of the inner sleeve that was getting in the way of the top of the pump. Works great and…

Great pump so far. So quiet and quick to pump.

So far this little pump is great. I just installed it. I replaced the backup pump because I had a serious water problem in the spring when the pump got wet and I didn't want to accidentally burn it and flood the basement. It took me less than 5 minutes to install this pump. I have a very small hole, only 10 1/2 inches wide. This pump fits perfectly and leaves room. This Liberty pump drains a sump twice as fast as a floor pump and is so quiet you can hardly hear it running. When I did the test I

Suitable for small sump, light weight

So far I love this pump. I have a house that was built in 1979 that used smaller wells and had 2 entrances. This isn't a problem with the old floor pumps you can still find, but most installers now recommend submersible pumps. The incoming water hit the float for every submersible pump I could find at 3 local "big box" stores, so I was concerned it would prevent them from turning on. The Liberty has a good reputation and the float was in the right place and protected from any flooding (but not…

Quiet and fast pumping.

It appears that now when these contractors are building a house with a basement where the water table can rise during the rainy season, they use a 5 gallon bucket with holes in it. in it near the drain when the basement is poured. It turns out a very small cesspool. I'm looking at this pump on Amazon and this Liberty pump in this price range has way better reviews than the ones sold in big stores. After installing it in my little five gallon sump, I poured five gallons of water into it, and…

Switch stuck in submersible pumps

It worked fine for a while but during heavy rain the switch got kinda dirty and the pump stopped working due to a stuck switch shaft. The float was all the way up trying to turn it on but for some reason (not clear to me) the float wouldn't turn on the switch and it wouldn't work and had to take over the extra backup pump. I was surprised because I thought that this type of float switch would not get dirty. I shook it and whatever was clogging the top switch stem in the case fell out and it's…

Quiet and powerful, fits in an old waste bin system Liberty 403

This is a reliable little pump. It cost a little more money compared to similar pumps we tested that were $10 to $40 cheaper. We already had a Liberty Pump Model 403 drain hooked up to our washing machine to pump water from the washing machine down the sewer line to leave the house, but that pump died after 10.5 years of fairly heavy use. This setup didn't have that specific pump inside, but I couldn't find that exact pump, so I grabbed that so I didn't have to deal with a floating chamber that

Great, quiet pump that fits in a standard 5 gallon bucket.

I bought this pump to replace a cheaper, smaller pump. I didn't really need a new pump, the old one worked fine. but we are selling our house and the home inspector mentioned it so I thought I could forestall a buyer's concerns. This is a great looking pump with a solid reputation. It seems really well done, and that's serious. I checked it. Another issue with our home inspector was that our old pump was simply dumped in the pit by the previous owners. So I dug a hole and put a 5 gallon bucket…

Previously purchased lasted 14 years

I bought this sump pump after Hurricane Ida and my last pump was completely out of service. My house stands over an underground stream and after all these years of stable pumping even on dry days (at least the well is emptied every 2 hours) the old pump finally failed, this pump is in the photo. During that hurricane there was over 3 feet of water in the basement so this pump, along with the Sears submersible pump used for the old pool, was able to pump out all of the water in a few hours after

Worth every penny if it lasts. (Long time.)

I have just installed this pump but like many others it is very quiet and I have a lift height of 1.50m and have had no problem emptying the sump in less than 30 seconds! It's been raining here for the last 2 days and I had to check if the pump was working because I couldn't see it from more than 10 feet! I chose this model over the 257 because I will be dry in the summer months and the cast iron body bothered me. Can't comment on durability, but even if it only lasts 5 years, it costs $30 more
