So handy than running across town looking for quick fix items

Came home from a long trip and my wife said the garage door stopped working. A quick look and saw that the spindle was not moving while the motor was running. He got up and saw a tattered muff lying around. Good thing it isn't. Checked after hours and ordered a replacement. Dismantled on arrival in the morning. Fits great. Drive shaft and hinges lubricated at the same time. So a pair of plastic has most likely become fragile with age. Pretty narrow space around the pair, otherwise I'd add some…

Inexpensive door repair

Delivered quickly. Works as promised. Relatively easy to install if you search YouTube for information on how it actually works. Saved me a lot of money. I have two garage door openers and had the same problem with another one a few years ago and it cost me over $100 for someone to come out and fix it. Spending only seven bucks and about 15 minutes of your time this time to fix it yourself is great. A lot of people complain that this piece is plastic and breaks, but I suspect you'd rather see a

Check First - Building Materials

If you have a LiftMaster Screw Drive Garage Door Opener, check the clutch first. There are good replacement videos on youtube. If you don't want to take it apart to check the connection, use the video from your phone with the flashlight on. You can see it to see if it's broken without having to remove the device until you order it and it's delivered. To recalibrate the door, I found a socket that fits snugly into one end of the coupler. I used my impact drill to get the worm gear into the…

It saved me. for garage doors, openers and parts

I don't really understand Chamberlain as this part seems to have been designed to eventually break. A small piece of plastic that must withstand the lifting torque of a garage door for tens of thousands of cycles. What did you think? And then Chamberlain stopped making that part. I owe a great debt of gratitude to the supplier who still makes it available. This piece at a fraction of the cost saved me from having to buy a brand new garage door opener. So yes, the value for money is amazing. In…

Small but nice! for doors

This very small piece of metal has solved and solved a big problem! This was very "difficult" to install, but maybe it was because my husband and I never had to do anything with a garage door opener other than push the remote and the gate opened? So it was a real challenge to take the outer shell off and then try to find a spare and then remove the broken one and put a new one in the tight space. We originally had a mechanic fix the opener when it stopped working and when he told us which part…

Garage door clutch works great

My garage door opener is about 15 years old. My door was disconnected from the track opener and the door was half open. I turned on the garage door opener to have the device "grab" the garage door to reattach the door to the track and the pressure of the moving track hitting the stationary door caused the old garage door clutch to fail ( You could hear the clutch snap). ). I bought this new clutch, made sure no car was under the garage door opener in case something went wrong (like a falling…

My opener works again! BUT BE CAREFUL FOR THEM DIYers

Replaced it on my Liftmaster Professional and it helped! WARNING: If you opened your garage door after the original clutch broke, your open and close limits will be out of sync with the opener's memory. You can't just plug this in, relock the car door and press the button - you could damage the opener or your door. Release the cart until you see it move normally from the door to the opener. Unfortunately, there's no way to reset the restrictions, so leave them alone until you need to adjust…

Works but check motor/door placement

Worked on my Liftmaster. It looks like my original clutch broke because it was brittle and there was no bonding. I simply unscrewed the engine mounting bolts, tilted them, put on a new clutch and screwed everything into place. VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure the position of the motor matches the position of the gate. When you press the open button and the garage door does not move, the motor clutch side is in the up position and the gate track side is in the down position. That means if you put them…

Exact replacement for the Liftmaster clutch

The old clutch on my Liftmaster 1/2 HP screwdriver bit opener broke when I pushed the button to open the garage door. I knew it had to be some kind of gearbox failure as the engine was still running and the headlights were still on. A quick look on youtube led me to a plastic coupler that is a weak link in a system that absorbs shock and prevents the propeller or motor from breaking. Mine broke into about 8 pieces probably just from age and fatigue (the opener is 16 years old). I found this…
