Great headset to protect your ears

Great headset to protect your ears! I use them for teaching PPL and they work great. The headset fits comfortably and the clamping pressure isn't too great, I can wear it for hours without much discomfort. The com-priority feature works great, but if you're on a busy frequency you don't have to worry about plugging an external media source into your headset as your music will be interrupted every few seconds.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Useless features

Great price and works great!

As a student pilot who can barely hear instructor and ATC instructions, this ANC headset is a cut above at canceling out unwanted background noise over a cheaper PNC headset. I always thought the BOSE brand was overpriced and at $650 this was the best ANC headset I could find, it was $400 less than the BOSE brand. Adjusting the microphone gain is a bit tricky, but it works. Very comfortable to wear and looks great. Excellent customer service.

Pros
  • Permanent test results

Comfortable, well built and ANR makes a big difference.

Good thing I have them for training, without ANR my hearing would have been shattered by the deafening roar of the 172's engines. Fits perfectly in my ears with glasses and all, good seal. The build quality is decent, there are no problems with the plastic construction. While it's expensive (it's just a common complaint about aviation headsets), I see it will outlast much of my future aviation career (note that the more expensive Zulu is assembled in China, while it's made in the US. Strange…

Sierras? Or A20? Best in Automotive and Automotive Electronics

I've used the Bose A20 and Lightspeed Sierra headsets for at least 15 hours each. I chose the Lightspeed Sierra because it fits my budget at the moment. These are high quality headphones and you won't be disappointed if you choose them. They were immaculate, clear and comfortable for long trips. They also fit my 4 year old daughter well and will soon be hers. If you have that in your budget, go for the Bose A20. The Bose A20 is noticeably better in ANR and sound quality, but not by much. The…

Ok but probably not worth what I paid.

The biggest complaint about using a Bluetooth connection to make calls. When using Bluetooth, there is an audio break between speaking and receiving. Loss of connection for 1-2 seconds makes a phone call almost impossible. I had a BluLink adapter that I had used before and it worked great with any headset. Now I connect it to Lightspeed and use BluLink for Bluetooth and Lightspeed for ANR. Better get a non-Bluetooth ANR kit and buy BluLink. At least if you're trying to use your phone at low…

If you look at these - buy this

After I finished my VFR I start my IFR I decided it was time to buy my own headset. I've spent hours trying on all the different headsets online in airline shops, from basic headsets with no noise cancellation to two Zulus and Bose headsets. First thing I want to say is that active noise canceling headsets for aviation are amazing. When you talk to someone on the intercom, you appear to be in a quiet room. When choosing between Lightspeed and Bose, the price of Lightspeed really convinced me…

Not worth the price of upgrading from 3G

. More comfortable on a 1 hour SoCal test flight with another pilot, although I've done many 3 hour flights on 3G. Cleaner sound for me with ATC and connectivity than 3G in flight, although 3G was fine again. Dislikes: Loud, low frequency, somewhat painful vibration feedback with noise canceling on and after adjusting position to stop head movement. works again, although it seemed to improve after a few minutes of wear (maybe it has heat sensitive foam ear pads which would be better in warm…
