Elastic cord broke on first use

Disappointed with the quality especially at such a high price point as the elastic cord broke on first use of this shoe. We decided to keep it as the shoes still seem to be in working order and needed them immediately. Check the shoes you receive before allowing your child to wear them.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Some minor issues

Training support with a beautiful look!

Our daughter was jealous of her older sister's bright shoes, but she needs more support. As soon as she put on her "camper shoes", her opinion quickly changed. She says they are comfortable and easy to put on and take off. While it's not that important, I guess they look pretty! Would buy again.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • So far so good

Good hiking shoes: Shoes

These shoes are perfect for hiking for my 8 year old. He finds these shoes very comfortable. The velcro holds up really well and I love how easy these shoes are on and off - no complaints from a tired kid after a day of hiking! I also appreciate being able to throw them in the washing machine after a particularly adventurous hike!

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Good but hard to wear

My 3 star rating may be a bit harsh but I have little patience when it comes to disappointing kids. The shoes fit and my little one seems to like them but even after buying the wide version they are very difficult to put on. There are many shoes my 3 year old daughter can wear on her own but she definitely can't. I can hardly.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Good but not great

I love Merrell kids shoes!

We love these shoes for our girls! They are so strong and durable that they are perfect for camping, hiking and even biking. They hold up so well that they never just look ruined like their other shoes that wear out much quicker and with less wear. We were happy to finally find a purple pair that was the right size. But it's always their shoes for all outdoor activities.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Concerned about durability

Initially pleased with these shoes but after only three months they are wearing a lot more than they should. The fabric around the upper is frayed on all sides. However, what worries me the most is the wear and tear on the metal loop that the launch passes through. The hinge is failing and looks like it will break soon rendering these shoes unusable. Update 3/2021: Velcro failed, shoes fell apart, didn't even last a year. Super disappointed!

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • Does not go with everything

Great sole but small and difficult to put on.

Printed Merrel's size chart, ordered the widest available. The length was perfect, the hole for the foot is stupid small. The market for good toddler street shoes is so big that I really had no choice and decided to keep them. They didn't get lighter, ie didn't get sick. Or maybe toddler feet just keep up. Again, an outsole with great traction for serious hiking and rough terrain. But they could really improve the ankle fit (maybe it's the width of the shoe, but anyway I hope next year won't be

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Can't remember

Lighter, more mesh/breathable, hopefully just as durable.

All in all, I haven't found an affordable toddler shoe with better support than Revain's Merrells. My little one had an M-Trail Chaser Jr. which he wore when we were out on muddy/gravel trails (compared to his Nikes). However, they are heavier than these and less breathable in my opinion as they have less mesh. (See side photo. This shoe is in the foreground. M-Trail Chaser is in the back.) That being said, I think they could be more durable and water resistant over time as they have more mesh…
