Greatness in Motion Monroe Shocks

This was the first set of replacement shocks in 62 years. These Monroe shock absorbers completely changed my second generation car.

Pros
  • Great Design
Cons
  • Not Bad

Hardware short circuit

The product itself was great but they only sent a two shock gear set. It shows the fitment for two dampers, but the second set was not in the box. I can't install a second shock absorber without screw connections!

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Useless features

Nice shocks but check the hardware before installing!

My dampers arrived in a sealed box with no sign of having been previously opened. The dampers are good, but the equipment was only enough to install one damper. This is poor quality control on Monroe's part. Luckily I was able to reuse my existing hardware except for the top nut which was different. I had one on hand so I could finish the installation.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Interval

The best shock absorbers - shock absorbers

The best deal on this shock absorber. I put 4 on a Buick Roadmaster station wagon. I wanted to get rid of the rear air flaps. This worked perfectly for me. The car is mounted a little higher in the rear, which is what I wanted. It actually drives and handles better. Drives and drives like a different car. Slightly raised at the front. I like how it looks now and I don't have to listen to the winds. I have since ordered 2 more pairs for friends.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • So far so good

While they won't replace bad springs, they do help balance the load.

I bought these for my wife's '79 Thunderbird to replace some of the air vents that the previous owner had installed. They help balance the load and help your tanker sit more evenly. They also help reduce the "boat tilt" that many of those old '70s pimp mobiles have. While they won't replace bad springs, they do help balance the load a little better. Along with fresh springs, these dampers perform amazingly.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Light, fast and improved altitude.

These are uncompressed. That being said, you'll need to lower the axle or shrink yourself before inserting it. My '63 Galaxy 500 sedan, non-fast rear, has 2 sets of worn 5-leaf springs. I put them on to try and increase rear clearance. You haven't let me down. They alone increased the ride height by 1.5 inches! Impressive. I need new leaf springs in the future but they are very good and lift the car. Easy installation, comes with all the hardware and fast, let me tell you, fast delivery.

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
  • vaguely remember

Good product and great price, very poor packaging.

These shocks replace the rear air shocks on the C-pillar of a Chevy 2-door Resto Mod '55. The air shocks started to leak and I was looking for a replacement. These dampers give a much better ride and I don't have to use air dampers to raise the rear of the car a bit. The car is now a little higher at the back than at the front, which is what I wanted and still want. With the car on a lift the new shock absorbers had to be "jacked up" and put back in to install which took a bit of effort but it…

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • High Price
