1997 F150 Worm Gear Fits

Good luck trying to get into gear work. May you be as lucky as me, and you only needed a worm gear. The old one fell out like cheap rubber and crumbled with a little pressure in my hand. The wheel (made of harder plastic) was still held in place and required a lot of removal to get to it. Mission accomplished!

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Upgradeable

If your odometer has stopped working, get this!

I have a Mustang that is over 26 years old and the odometer has stopped working. Seen, and most likely this part is out of order. Fix for about 20 minutes. Too early to know, but hopefully both this piece and its owner will last another 26+ years. If not then I'll update my review (ie if it's a part, if it's me, yourself!).

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • The list will be long.

If you have a 94-98 Mustang you need these.

If you own a '94-'98 Mustang you will ever need these gears. These are the same gears that many Mustang shops sell by mail order for three times the price. They didn't come with instructions but there are tons of videos on YouTube showing you everything you need to know. I had about 20 minutes from start to finish and had a working odometer again.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • It's OK

. It may work on a 1997 Ford E450 Super Duty. I just had to use the worm.

Got this in case it runs on a 1997 Ford E450 Super Duty. I just had to use a worm gear but that fixed the issue of the odometer not working but the speedometer still working. This car has a mechanical odometer and the worm gear is a mess. Removing the speedometer wasn't an easy task, but the worm gear stood up with no problems.

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Having problems

Absolutely Great - Speedos

definitely when I made this purchase it was worth it because when I realized my dime and odometer work together there was no working together, if I GEARDER WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM AND IT DID IT AND SAVE ME TIME AND A TRIP TO EACH MECHANICAL SHOP AND DEALER. EVERYONE WITH SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER PROBLEMS, TAKE A LOOK AT FIRST, IN MY CASE MY 1997 FORD MUSTANG V8 NOW MY INSTRUMENT COMBINE LOOKS PROFESSIONALLY MADE JUST TO SAY ;-)

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • all good so far

worked like a master

worked like a master. It turned out that both my worm gear and my final drive were destroyed. The odometer didn't turn. Ford really screwed it up when they decided to make the gears out of plastic that corroded over time due to the lubricant used. The hardest part of the installation was removing the light switch handle on my 1995 Ford Mustang. I used a small "hook" from a coat hanger to help with this. Be careful or you'll break the handle, it's cheap plastic too. then two screws for the front

Pros
  • brings joy
Cons
  • some little things

Better quality than the original Ford gears

I had a speedometer and odometer that didn't work in my 1998 Ford Mustang and decided to replace the odometer gears with them. At the same time I replaced the speed sensor just to hide the bases. I watched some videos on YouTube and after a few hours my sensors are fine again. My gears looked fine, a tooth or two were broken off so I decided to replace them just in case because these gears seem to be better quality than the original gears which basically fell apart when I took them off. Be…

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • There are nuances

My step-by-step notes: The product worked great on my 1998 Mustang.

Works as described. It took me just over an hour and a half to install the new gears and also swap out all the dash light bulbs. Below are my notes from several YouTube videos I watched before remembering what to do to swap out the gears. Please note that these are just my notes and may not be accurate. The following steps assume you know what you're doing and just need a simple checklist as a reminder. ***Use my notes below at your own risk*** 1998 Mustang GT: Step 1: T20 Torx - 2 Black…

Worm Gear Only Fits 1997 Ford F150 Lariat Odometer

My 1997 Ford F150 odometer and trip meter stopped working. I removed the instrument cluster and found that the worm gear that drives the odometer and odometers had disintegrated - SEE PHOTO. Although the MTC gear set was listed for a 1997 Mustang, I took a chance that they might fit my 1997 F150. The prices I've only seen for the F150 worm gear were higher than the price of a set of Mustang gears. I won't go into detail on how to remove the instrument cluster as there are several videos on…
