Great addition to our gift Nat Geo Rock Polisher

I gifted the National Geographic Rock Polisher to my grandson and decided to include a spare set with him. Kids are still in the polishing phase with the kit included with the polisher, but considering how much fun they are having, as well as a great STEM learning opportunity, this replacement kit will be in use soon. The stones included in the original set (currently polished) are very good examples. Tiger Eye is her favorite. I expect this replacement set to be of good quality as well. That's

The choice of stones was great and everything needed was included

Purchased. Complete with NatGeo Steinglas as a Christmas present for my grandson. Since it takes a month to process the finished product, we had it opened early. He was excited to say the least. And I wanted to start right away. On Wednesday my son emailed me that the first big job was done and they were moving on to the next one. There was a large selection of stones and everything you needed was there. It remains to wait for the finished product. It was a wonderful gift and the service was…

Time investment

We bought this for our son who is always rock collectors and thought it would make a great gift and it really is except our son is 7 and doesn't have delayed gratification so after the first acrobatic round without the desired results, he lost interest. To be honest, by the time six weeks had passed since the last drop I had lost interest and the stones eventually shot into the stationary cylinder for another week. So it's definitely an outdoor activity. Overall it works exactly as it should…

Great refill.: Science Kits and Toys

Great refill for the starter kit I bought from Nat Geo. The only downside, and why I gave it 4 stars, is that it doesn't really warn you about not putting them all on at once, or how to make sure it's a safe weight. I know some of that comes with knowing the process, but having a refill that's too heavy and breaking the glass isn't fun either. The tumblr was replaced for free, but it's still a bit of a hassle to have some rocks that wouldn't fall. It had some great parts and a few small ones…

Refill kit delivers reliable results

I really like the jar I got from National Geographic. I was ready to start a new set of bricks so I went back to the supplier. I'm a lot older than their target audience so my goals are probably a bit different - I want polished stones that I can wrap around and make jewelry out of - so "beautiful" is important. I've tried another supplier of rough stones but I'm too new to the hobby to feel safe going with coarse grits/polishes or even random stone results. This set has the same composition as

Grandson excited for the end result

We only completed the opening set and as each of the 4 levels lasts 7 days we couldn't release too early. Of course my grandson couldn't wait and wanted to check the progress almost every day and we think that every time we opened it we lost patience. Although the stones were smooth, they were not shiny. Now we will try to follow the instructions exactly to see what this batch will look like. The attached photos show that they polish beautifully and we hope for better results this time. I would

Beautiful stones! for training and education

Very funny box! There is a nice selection of large sized stones including three tiger eyes (my favourite) and some beautiful agates. I am grateful to have received gem quality colored rough stones and not just a box of cheap colorless quartz. We look forward to the final results! Today I fill a glass! Although I already had some sand on hand, I appreciate the included sand set. You can never have too much. Jewelry frames are pretty basic, perfect for kids activities, but for adult projects it's

False advertising

This was part of a gift for our 10 year old daughter who was waiting to get a glass and stones. We chose the gemstone refill set because it contains 9 different gemstones. At first the bag looked like someone had walked through it. He's barely reached half the mark. Second, the stones were very small and there were many small fragments in what was left at the bottom of the bag. Finally, and most importantly, the two gems they reported weren't there. There was no jasper or agate. We know exactly

Fascinating stones! expectations were disappointed.

I bought this kit for another brand of rockfall and am currently still in acrobatics. When I opened the box I was shocked by two things. First, I received better quality stones than I expected. Even in their raw state, I could tell they were all going to be beautiful. This set contains the most amazing bricks any crafter could wish for. Also, there were twice as many stones as could fit in my branded jar, so I accidentally got a two-for-one bonus. My expectations were exceeded. I assumed the…
