Broken, broken, broken. Do not buy!

I had to listen to my intuition and trust other reviewers. While this product initially provided excellent WiFi coverage, within a month the WiFi signal began to drop intermittently. It goes out for 30 seconds and comes back on a dozen times a day. Then, on day 92 of owning the product (two days outside of the support window), it completely failed. The Wi-Fi dropped completely, and although Xfinity could see the modem on its network, I couldn't get internet access to my desktop or VOIP phone…

Great modem router for Comcast customers

Very happy with this purchase! I'm in the process of cutting costs/saving money and recently unplugged my cable to just use internet service and some streaming options (and saved over $100/month in the process!). Part of that was getting rid of the $11 monthly modem rental. It was very easy to set up, but there are a few things you need to know: 1 - You need to activate your modem/router before you can set up your network information (the instructions say it's the other way around) 2 - I had a…

WiFi connection problems

I do not recommend this device for several reasons. We've had this for 2 years and when we recently started working from home for the first time, we noticed a constant problem with WiFi dropping. Restarting the router doesn't solve the problem at all. We even asked our ISP (Spectrum) to come to the site and make sure everything is fine on their end. This means there is definitely something wrong with the router. Trying to work from home is almost impossible with this problem. The second issue…

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Bad experience

This modem/router was purchased to upgrade an Optimum modem and router (Cable Vision etc) and save on rent. I regret never contacting Netgear customer service. During the installation I checked the connection speed. Later I never realized that the problem was in my router. Optimum technology compared their generic modem, router, and this Netgear combo side-by-side, and even then, the generic blew it out of the water. The 16x4 skills were irrelevant and rubbish. My devices often turned off…

Connectivity issues from day one - Netgear return procedure costs $50

When I first received the product, it would disconnect from the internet from time to time. I called Netgear at the time and they said the issues I was having weren't issues, tried to blame my service provider and challenged my conclusions that the problem was with the product. Since I was also working with a new service provider, I trusted him. In hindsight it seems they were just playing a numbers game hoping the problem (and I) would just go away. Now, two months later and after the Revain…

Has worked well for 8 months

This modem/router has worked well for 8 months. It was very easy to set up and had great speeds. Also, we live in a 3 story building. Wi-Fi has arrived everywhere with great force. It was working fine up until this month, but 2 weeks ago we found that we are connected to Wi-Fi but have no access to the internet. Basically, there was something "DoS" or a "tear attack" on our router that caused it to reboot but not turn off the WiFi signal. Comcast wouldn't help because we bought this unit (to…

The best choice for us!

We live in a rural area with limited high speed internet access. After suffering months of poor DSL service from our phone company, maybe 2.5Mbps download speeds, and the service dropped CONTINUOUSLY all day, we took a chance with our cable TV provider. We've had the same cable TV company for over 9 years with no signal issues so we thought this was the best option. At the time, Cable was offering speeds of up to 100 Mbps, compared to the previously advertised 60 Mbps service. We're not heavy…
