NETGEAR support is terrible!

The product worked fine for two weeks, then it wouldn't connect to the internet. After nearly two hours of troubleshooting during a conference call with a NETGEAR tech and ISP, and after the cable tech came out and rewired, we decided to hook up another modem to see if it worked. It happened. I called Netgear back with my case number to request a replacement and I've spent the last 45 minutes explaining to this guy everything that's already in the notes. He tells me he is not authorized to…

It's Edsel in networking products

I cannot recommend this modem strongly enough. Both my original one and the warranty-replaced one had defective coax connectors, which frustrated me for several hours until I almost cried as I repeatedly tried and failed to fix it - and I don't cry easily. I'm a goddamn programmer with a college degree and professional IT experience, and even I couldn't get this crap to work. I can't believe Netgear's quality control is so terrible that two modems in a row ($430 modems, no less) are invalid…

Netgear lets you down on product quality and support

I bought this device because of its features and what I believe to be Netgear's reputation. After waiting patiently for 16 days after ordering, a v2 device was sent to me. I also purchased a $29.99 hardware replacement warranty from Netgear, which gives you 2 years of hardware replacement. It took me 3 hours from Xfinity to get the MAC address of the C7800 site and match it to my account. From the third day on a frequency of 2.4 GHz. The SSID started failing, visible in broadcast but no device…

I needed a combination modem router with the latest technologies DOCSIS 3.1 and Wi-Fi 6. NIGHTHAWK CAX80 met the technical requirements. Installing the CAX80 wasn't as easy as advertised. I couldn't "self-activate" myself over the internet. The Nighthawk smartphone app can be used to set up Wi-Fi but not set up tethering. My cable company is Spectrum. I've had my internet account with them (including their predecessors Time-Warner and RoadRunner) for over 20 years. Your customer service is…

The best combination of modem and router!

I use the Internet service Spectrum 1 Gig. I use all my smart devices (echoes, laptops, TVs, printers, cameras, smart plugs, smart sensors and smart hubs) with increased signal strength (92%). I like the increase in wireless network speeds (300-400 Mbps average) that the new WiFi 6 brings to all my wireless devices, reaching speeds of up to 980 Mbps (900 Mbps average for a wired network). service so far. It is ahead of its time and meets the requirements of the future. Highly recommended! I…

HORRIBLE OVERHEATING DESIGN

So why do I need another C7800 when the first one was welded in two months? Because (1) when it works, it's great, and (2) I've beaten overheating. Continue reading. I have 4K TV streaming, 3 iPads, 3 iPhones, 2 printers and a laptop; Everything in the house is 1500 square meters. Feet with a very high point. I needed power, no extension cords, for upstairs/patio. And I needed 2.4g (channel 1) for TV/printer and 5g (channel 163) for devices. For load management I have a Cox Gigabast; It's the…

Don't waste your time with Netgear support.

If you receive a counterfeit you should know within 24-48 hours. Just ship it back to Revain so they can sell it to an asshole like me as needed. I have used the C7000-100NAS with great success. But then I felt the need for speed and got this C7800. Netgear could not solve my problems. These are: 1) Cannot select and use preferred WiFi channel2) Cannot disable 20/40 coexistence3) Increasing WiFi instability (occasional disconnects)4) General instability (complete disconnect - both Ethernet and…
