Nite Ize SpokeLit: Light up your Ride for Safe Night Cycling Review

This is a great little flashlight to add to your bike. I now own several of these and love them! They're easy to put on and take off so you can easily switch between bikes, but after trying one of these for the first time I'm sure you'll buy enough for all your bikes. It's a fun little device, but as other reviewers have pointed out, it eats CR2016 cells. This seems like a pretty stupid choice of power supply on the part of the developers. CR2032 is more common and has a lot more juice. Personally, I prefer rechargeable devices, which is why I no longer count SpokeLits. I like the concept but I don't like the disco version (which uses a multi-color LED) which constantly changes its 4 colors when set to 'always on'. I thought I could leave any color. but it cycles through them all unless you set it to blink. When the flash is on, it only flashes red with no other color options. I ride alone at night and use great, powerful lighting systems, but the same goes for non-racers, so my family's bikes all have a front light, a tail light, and so on. My kids even have lightbulbs. It's great. I have six of these, one for each wheel of three bikes, and they greatly improve side visibility. The headlights and taillights are great, but I work downtown and I'm often overlooked by drivers making quick turns and merging, which is necessary on many one-way streets. They are cheap and great value if you are spotted cycling at night. They're pretty bright too! I had to go to the NiteIze website [.]) to find it - apparently you have to hold the button down until it just lights up first, then blinks, then goes off (stops blinking).
