Great device SDR

I have used NESDR Smart XTR with Windows 10 GUI clients and Cygwin CLI clients, Linux emulation on Windows and with the right drivers the product worked very well.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • No instructions

Custom solution for beginners

Okay, I've upgraded from 1 star to 3 stars. The reason is that the problem isn't with the hardware, it's getting the software to work for the beginner. It will take hours and hours and even then you have to go to youtube and most of what is there is mediocre at best. But if you stick to it, eventually you will get "some" result. But the effort required is a serious limiter. I would not buy again and would choose a company that has a product that is software-SUPPORTED for both software and…

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • No Automatic

Outdated? Unsupported?

I'll be honest I'm new to SDR but after working with the product it turned out that it was either an old product or no longer supported. The "latest" download/support related DLLs appear to be from 2014. Maybe newer products are more convenient or better supported. avoid it

Pros
  • Good stuff
Cons
  • No

Good RTL-SDR: Computer components

Excellent RTL-SDR, note that this one is only more expensive because it is based on the E4000 chip which is already out of production. My only complaint is that the case doesn't fit snugly in the USB port and because it's not very light it bent the USB port a few times just under its own weight :(

Pros
  • Like all others so far
Cons
  • Poor set

Compact and durable SDR

SDR is very nice and compact, which allows you to connect several of these devices to a USB hub. Technical support is responsive and very helpful if you have any technical questions. Antennas are good enough for hearing, but a dipole antenna works better.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Great Gadget Best External Components

I just received this on 10/19/17 just need to set up the device. The installation guide was absolutely perfect, everything worked on Windows 10 as advertised. Clarity 10/10 Ease of Use 10/10 I am new to SDR and would recommend this product based on my experience.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!

Good RTL-SDR: Computers and accessories

Great RTL-SDR, note that it's only more expensive because it's based on the E4000 chip, which is no longer made. My only complaint is that the case doesn't fit snugly into the USB connector and because it's not very light it bent the USB connector a few times just under its own weight :(

Pros
  • External components
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

This latest nesdr smart xtr sdr radio is amazing! I thought it couldn't be better than my last Smart Nesdr, WOW I was wrong! very stable signal and really opened up what I can get by just changing the SDR radio instead of moving the antenna! not to say that nesdr smart is somehow missing, but the difference is amazing! Then connect it to Nooelec Ham It Up! upconverter and the whole world of radio is waiting for you! If you're worried they won't work due to the high RF noise in your area, stop…

Pros
  • Computer components
Cons
  • The cable is shorter than others

Defective item received

I ordered one of these and it doesn't even recognize it as a device inserted into the computer. I am familiar with SDR and use zadig or linux to discover devices. I will return it and order another one and then update my review. For now I am hoping it was a defective item and not quality. a matter of control.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Can't remember
