REALLY cleans the air!

Nordic Pure MERV 13 filters have been used in my household for several years with excellent results. The wife loves them because they remove so much "desert dust" and dog dander, the kids love them because they don't cause allergic reactions, and we ALL love them for their ability to remove dust, pollen, mold spores, and cooking oil from smoking, cigarettes, and sometimes a bong. We've tried many brands and price ranges, and Nordic Pure filters outperform all the others regardless of price. A…

Suspicious Rating MERV 12

As mentioned by other reviewers (returning from allergy issues, comparisons made etc) it is suspicious if it really is MERV 12. On the light table compared to the new Honeywell MERV 8 they appear exactly the same in size and pattern bright flashes of light between the fibers. But compared to another brand's MERV 12 equivalent at Walmart, they look like they're letting in much larger particles. Believe me, they can be popular because they are Wirecutter's best choice. These filters have the…

They seem to be doing their job

My cat developed severe allergies and a mild mold infestation after dental surgery which prompted me to clean the air in my apartment for her and me to clean. My landlord suggested this after we checked the apartment to make sure there were no more mold issues. To buy similar air filters locally, it costs about $15 per filter. I'm disabled and living in poverty so I can't afford it! I was grateful that I had found her. I've found that I have a lot fewer allergy problems now, although my cat…

I have been buying these filters for several years and always buy them in bulk. I had to replace a filter the other day and for the first time in these filters I noticed one where the pleat was cut short and didn't fit the underside of the cardboard frame leaving a large air gap. As I bought this set of 12 a year ago they cannot be returned or exchanged from Revain. Be sure to visually inspect ALL filters upon receipt. Otherwise good filters at a good price. Unfortunately I cannot replace this…

Not the best deal in HVAC

Cheap air filter too expensive. in bulk (pack of 6 pieces). Don't do what I did. Don't be lazy to buy an air filter. Go to a hardware store. Or Walmart. read labels. I woke up with swollen eyes. And hives all over my body because I was cheap and didn't get it. Air Filter Ratings at Walmart: $3 White is the lowest of the lowest. Helps with dust $6 Green - normal operation. dust and allergies. $13 black/grey is the best. Dust, allergy, odor Don't store. When they arrived they came in a box. No…

I live in an apartment on the 3rd floor. This place is, you know, a dump, and I have no intention of staying here when the lease expires in a few months. I used Filtrete filters but they were so stiff I had to bend the filter a little to get them in the canal. I also had trouble justifying the price of the filter as my apartment may be outdoors and so poorly insulated. I got a box of 6 of these filters for about $30 from Revain's warehouse and they are very high quality and easily compare to…

Excellent value for money for excellent household filters.

MERV is the international standard for evaluating such filters. The MERV scale goes up to 16 (at the time of this review), and 13 is the highest rating for home use. The difference between MERV12/13 for domestic use is negligible and in any case some older ovens may have problems with MERV 11+ filters. This is because the higher the rating, the thicker the filter and the harder your oven has to work to force air through it. MERV 12 filters out almost everything but the smallest particles (e.g…

Allergy prevention is VERIFIED in my home.

With 4 farm cats, 2 large dogs, a new litter of puppies and a chihuahua (they all spend most of their time in my living room/kind of a vet's office) I was devastated by my young daughter when the doctor told me said pet dander causes her sneezing, itching and hives. Unable to tear my daughter away from her furry friends, I was skeptical that Doc insisted that I buy big bucks air filters and a big buck broom to combat dandruff. TWO DAYS LATER - The piles of fur that usually gather in every…

Make sure you get the right size and rating!

The best home air filter you can find. It's MERV 12, so it filters everything except cigarette smoke. But get a MERV 14 or better filter and you can do it (15 is hospital grade and 16 is what they use in operating rooms). I don't smoke at home (I don't smoke, period) so that would be overkill for me. If you smoke and are over the age of 13 you will notice a difference in air quality even if you still have orange walls from nicotine. This filter collects all the scales, pollen, mold, spores…

It was time to reorder some 16x20x1 filters and I realized the six packs I used to buy were EXTREMELY expensive. While I like the performance of the other product, I thought it was worth looking into alternatives. First problem: What is a suitable alternative? There are several systems for rating the performance of HVAC filters. MERV or MPR? I had to find a chart online to find out that MERV 14-16 roughly equals MPR 2200. So. What are Nordic Pure 16x20x1 MERV 14 Plus Charcoal Pleated Air…
