Great gift for quilting

Bought for a friend with arthritis in her hands who sews beautiful doll clothes. She wouldn't buy one tied to good old scissors. So I took the risk and bought it for her after much research. She hesitated, didn't seem too happy with me, but like good friends, she agreed and used them. NOW SHE IS ON THE HOOK AND WON'T GO BACK TO THE SCISSORS! Her hands hurt less and she says they cut fabric like a laser cuts a diamond.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than others

Well designed tool for a clean cut

Great fabric cutter! I've used this on standard sewing fabrics and leather up to 1/16 inch thick with nothing but clean results. I love how it automatically retracts the blade when not in use. Of course, if you want, you have the option to lock the blade in the open position. Thumb grooves (called a crack on knives) in the notch on the back of the blade provide a good grip when you need to apply some pressure. I recommend the Dahle 10673 Vantage Cutting Mat, 24" x 36", Black Dahle Vantageโ€ฆ

Great knife I use for fleece

I use this rotary fleece knife when I make car seat ponchos. I've found this to work really well and allows me to get a nice straight and quick cut. I was able to cut through 4 layers of fleece. However, I had to press really hard to cut it through all 4 layers (although it works great with 2 layers!). I've used it quite a bit and the blade doesn't seem to have dulled at all. I also like that you can lock the blade to avoid accidents. I would recommend bringing a cutting mat as you will damageโ€ฆ

Great tailor for a great price!

I bought this trimmer for my husband to crop photos. (He always borrowed my Olfa cutter and when I tried to use it the blade would gnaw at my fabric!) This Olfa from Amazon is just as good as the one I got from Joanne's Fabrics. It has a small "hood" over the blade lock to prevent accidental "unlocking" of the blade. Some reviewers complained about this feature, but I kinda liked it since my disc cutters travel with me a lot. Because of this, I almost gave my old cutter to my husband to keepโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • No Instructions

I have big hands and am surprised at how comfortable this cutter is to use. It's not so big that women with small hands find it awkward or awkward - the design is just really nice. I love that I don't have to consciously open/close the blade for safety reasons, just squeezing the handle opens the blade and releases the blade covers. There is nothing easier. Of course you can block the blade, but I'm a clumsy so I choose safety. Using the original blade, I put together a quilt consisting of 9โ€ฆ

I am a regular user of OLFA.

I had a plain straight OLFA that was very old but still cut quite well. But I wanted a new Pinking Blade, and it just went with this OLFA style. OMG it's worth it. I know some people got the white package, shit I got lucky and got the real yellow one. Maybe depends on the sender, PRIME? I don't have a lot of money, but with my sewing needs and the material I cut, I really wanted a pink razor blade, so I took a chance. SO HAPPY I DID THIS. It cuts so nicely it's worth the risk, the price was too

Yes you need a

I recently took up sewing (machine sewing - I've sewn by hand all my life) after inheriting my husband's great grandmother's sewing machine. Trying not to buy everything at once, I figured the cutting knife fell into the "nice but not necessary" category. Can't I just use good scissors? Then I really tried. Not as easy as it seems! One of my first projects was also about flannel and terry cloth. It took me 30-45 minutes to cut the first set of parts (one piece at a time). I couldn't do moreโ€ฆ

Why I Didn't Buy This Before

โ–บ Why I Like It: I looked at a few key points when choosing a cutting machine. Because these blades are very sharp, safety had to be a top priority. I wanted the blade to retract fully and protect the edge of the blade all around when retracted. I also wanted one with non-slip grips and protection for my pinched index finger in case I accidentally slip off. I definitely don't want to run my finger across the top of the blade while pressing down! What a VERY! I also wanted the blade to extendโ€ฆ
