poor quality good for tool kits

this kit is good for a 2003 ranger 4.0L engine but not this size, i had to grind in two places to allow the tool to fit the harmonic balancer and the other is very sloppy Done, for this price I expect better quality. OTC is a very good brand but I am not very happy with this tool.

Pros
  • easy install
Cons
  • piggy bank price

If you absolutely have to get the job done, use these tools to do it

I love this toolbox, but honestly I hate using it. It's not because of the inadequacy of the tool, I just hate making valve chains in Ford 4.0 SOHC engines. Since I can't stop doing this, this tool is exactly what I need and I am thankful for this set.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Unreliable

Works as described!

I have just used this product to time a 2008 Ford Ranger 4.0 after the left cylinder head was overhauled due to a faulty valve. The details look very high quality. The screws included in the kit fit without any problems. All tools supplied correspond to the description. All the basic details you need are included. I was impressed. It would be a pain to get the job done without this product.

Pros
  • Best
Cons
  • Safety

This kit was on par with the Ford Motor Co Shop kit and worked as intended. It's a bit pricey to use once, but since I don't like the loaner tools, I might be able to borrow them and help someone else through the process. It has a nice storage box with compartments for each individual component.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Communication with seller

Great tool but poor Ford design on engines,

exactly what I ordered when I was working on my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport 4.0 to about 100,000 miles or less, mine within 97,000 miles failed. BAD FORD product or bad design.) Carl Lusch is a lifelong Ford man now going to Chevrolet. PS I am 65 years old and love building my own track. on my victim. but I don't like buying specials. Certificate-Only Tools. Ford Victor.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

An absolute must for the SOHC 4.0L chain repair!

Works as it should. Work with later modular engines, check and compare tool numbers. OTC should review/update application years. It says 97 to 02, I used it on an 06. I highly recommend a countershaft wrench to hold the rear countershaft gear for proper bolt torque. I had to grind some material off the crank lock as a light touch on the timing cover bolt's stamping angle prevented it. sit completely flush with the block.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Expensive

This tool is well worth the money to get the job done right.

Like many Shade Tree mechanics, I thought I could do the repair without any "special tools". I was wrong. After the first no-kit repair, I found that the engine had failed, although I had taken precautions to avoid this. Well, needless to say I broke down and bought the kit. After spending the whole morning "taking apart" the engine again, I installed the kit and got it back on time within 30 minutes. Yes, with some basic knowledge of mechanics it is that easy to use. After the engine rebuild…

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Socket Requires

This makes it easy to determine which tool goes where.

Well made tool kit. The case is labeled with part numbers so when reading the instructions you can easily identify which tool goes where and what specific tool you are looking for. What I have found is that when rebuilding a Ford V6 4.0 SOHC the number 1 piston is aligned to top dead center before the heads are installed. You can leave it there during the installation process. When installing the cams on the heads, set them to the position they should be when the #1 piston is at TDC. I found…

Pros
  • Quality workmanship
Cons
  • Some imperfections
