I have the dumbest dog in the world.

... but she figured out how to use it pretty quickly. Cutting through the plaster to install this was trendy, but the pro I called wanted $250 for the installation PLUS the cost of the door (which he called me). twice as expensive as this device). I wouldn't say it was easy to install (because cutting is very painful), but it's not "brain surgery" either. So if you have a bit of common sense save $$$ and do it yourself. .If you are installing yourself (and if you have stucco) make sure you make

Solid outdoor cat product

This is a great product, installed through drywall by 2 and has been used by 2 cats for a month. If you use a cut out template and take your time, installation is pretty easy. I used a drill for the pilot holes and a jigsaw for the cuts. The screws won't stay flush with the wall so I recommend using caulk to seal the edges. If you just put screws and connect them directly to the outside of the house, there will be drafts outside. The screws can slip off if not tightened enough, and if the…

More difficult to install than the same product 4 years ago

This product was one of the products we had previously purchased. We live in Arizona and it's on the west wall so we weren't too surprised when the old 4 year old SMALL plastic dog door dried out and broke outside. This took a reasonable amount of time. So we ordered another one, medium size this time. A small door ran from one side of the wall to the other. The middle door doesn't. They have been intentionally scaled down so that they will NOT fit completely through the wall. I think that's…

Good product but has a few minor flaws

It was fairly easy to install, especially in our case because we were replacing an existing makeshift cat door and therefore didn't have to make a new hole, we just had to cover the existing one . That way I didn't even have to use all the hardware that comes with the kit. The installation went smoothly. The downside I'll point out is that the doors, when installed correctly (and I think I have them), don't swing as freely. They are made from a fairly dense/heavy material to ensure appropriate…

The doors don't close by themselves!

I bought this pet door specifically for the two doors, thinking they would keep cold air out of the house all winter. And they would do fine if the doors actually closed after my cats walked through the door, but they don't. JE. One issue is there is fluffy material around the edges of the opening, for insulation purposes I suppose, but the doors snag on it and get stuck. I hope it wears off after a while and won't be such a big problem. But another problem is that the flexible plastic door…

Great product about cats

If you have a dog (or 4) that loves your sleep, you're sick of those puddles the size of Lake Erie in the living room, you're wondering why Cerberus keeps attacking your door either side, or for some reason don't enjoy the South Pole-sized glaciers that form as a result of your prince or princess crossing at night when they decide to urinate on a thimble before protecting your borders from invading Huns and aliens alike Time; Then do yourself a huge favor and buy one of these. We usually try to

Not easy to install

Pros: It seems to be of high quality. The double doors give it a clean look and easily keep insects and wind out of your home. Fur: It was a bit of a hassle teaching my dogs to use the double flaps even though they are used to using the single flap. dog door. The exit will also be slightly higher off the ground as the floor of most houses is slightly higher than the landing outside. This is more of an issue if you have small dogs and I had to put up a small ramp at the exit so my small dogs…

Installation tips

Bought the small size for the cat. Depending on where you want to place the door, this is not a project for beginners. Always start your projects with a goal in mind. Please imagine going through each step and anticipating potential problems before you make a big hole in your home. I found a good spot with a stud on one side and cut a hole in the drywall using a jigsaw and level. I then used the instructions on the box to figure out where to cut a hole in the exterior stucco wall. To do this I…
