The only reason our cat is alive

Our 6 month old kitten was identified as an indoor/outdoor cat who ran through doors when we cried and walked in windows and smashed screens all day. We finally let him out and a week later he was hit by a car. He had a broken hip but healed well and was lucky to be alive but was still keen to leave. We tried a long leash and harness but it was difficult to untangle him in the garden without constant supervision. Then we discovered this fence. Took half a day to bury it properly and hang it…

Pros
  • A low battery indicator will remind you when a battery change is needed
Cons
  • I don't remember

The system has been working for two years - it works - so the advice.

fencing for more than 12 hours a day - this takes time and planning. We choose the loop method. We have a rectangular backyard with a two meter high wooden fence. Cats could fly over it in one jump. So, starting with the transmitter, we ran a loop across the entire backyard, six inches off the ground. (Attached the wire to the fence and buried it four inches deep where there was no fence. Then we looped the wire at a height of five feet, being careful not to get the wire closer than three feet…

Pros
  • Collar with elastic section for cat safety; Do not leave the receiver collar on the cat
Cons
  • No

Useful purchase of training and behavioral aids

Purchased late summer but a year old but only installed this spring My neighbor complained that my cat was walking in her garden. It was relatively easy to install and after some testing we got the collar to beep as intended. We trained our cat on a leash for about a week and our results were the same as others. The cat lay down quite a bit. So we pulled her out, forced her to walk to the fence and then yelled "run away" and pushed her away when the audible noise started. The instructions said…

A few months and everything works great!

Last year we moved into a house on the golf course. We wanted to allow our two cats access to the outdoors but wanted them to stay away from the golf course. We installed an invisible fence a few months ago and I wanted to give it time before doing a review. Our conclusion: Invisible Fence works! Our cats don't go over the fence now. We trained them like the manual says. We started by putting a collar on them, then taking them out on the leash for a short time, setting boundaries and allowing…

  • Receiver Collar Adjustment Adjustable to cat temperament (4 levels plus tone for training only)
Cons
  • Out of fashion

The ONLY thing that keeps cats in the garden.

The ONLY thing that worked. We have two very smart and patient cats. Our yard is fully fenced which is perfect for dog ownership but cats will climb over it like it's nothing. Our cats love being outside and they will stay in the yard while we are there. As soon as we turn our heads, phew, they're gone. With a busy road behind our house we don't want them to get crushed in the road. For years I tried to put up barriers. I've googled all possible solutions. I routed the electric fence wire…
