Hot and static Bluetooth reception

A bit disappointed with this JBL product as I use A LOT of their electronics. The radio becomes very hot after more than 15 minutes of use in a ventilated area. My guess is that heat degrades Bluetooth sound quality because it causes more and more static electricity in the speakers. I give 2 stars because everything else works.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Other

doesn't last long on marine electronics

We bought a few of these, like the small space and easy install and connection, sounds good too Problem is we've bought so many of them, and that's why we have several boats in addition. They usually last only one to two years. We keep our boats indoors and facilities dry and well ventilated. I just lost another one that lasted less than 2 years. I think I'm giving up this PRV 175 JBL.

Pros
  • High marks for tester support and durability
Cons
  • Very expensive

Comparison jbl/boss

Beautiful appearance but many flaws.1. No equalizer or speaker adjustment, there is flat sound.2. No clock 3. Installation can be difficult. Has a 3.5 inch hole. I bought a Boss style block and returned it for condensation but boy did it take a hit compared to JBL. The Boss sound is much better and even has an amp knob for more power. I just want a quality product. I think I'll try a kicker or a clarion next time. However, the JBL's buttons are easier to press and more responsive than the…

Just installed a radio in our Yamaha last weekend.

Just installed a radio on our Yamaha Rhino last weekend. The radio is very compact, which is good for a small space behind the dashboard. The radio connections have been marked and pre-cleaned, which makes my soldering job much faster. Can't comment on the radio's water resistance yet, but rest assured it's being tested. The only downside I've encountered so far is that if you unplug the radio and then plug it back in, the radio doesn't automatically turn off. turn the device back on. I wanted…

Pros
  • Decent performance

This is a great little radio

This is a great little radio. I removed the speedometer and put it back in place. I've had it on my own for a few hours and it doesn't get hot like others say. I'm sure standing in direct sunlight on a 100 degree day will be very hot. I use a parasol to cover my console to protect it from direct sunlight on the sandbar. I would not recommend this device. I liked the equalizer and volume controls. You can also adjust the volume when you turn on the device, so you won't be blown away the first…

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • I really don't like it, everything is fine

Excellent device, compact and beautiful display - Poor quality.

Excellent device, compact and beautiful display. That's all you need for your boat stereo. However, the device I received has some intermittent issues and is not working properly. It will not turn back on until you completely turn off power to the boat and turn it on again. My boat has new electrics and electronics, everything on board works perfectly, so hardly a boat. I installed the device indoors on an air conditioned boat and the boat is in Southern California so it is unlikely to pollute…
