Open Source Software That Simulates Circuits

I like that it is an open source software which can be used by anyone without paying for anything. It's also not very expensive to use so you don't have to worry about spending too much money if your project doesn't go well. The only thing I dislike about this program is its UI. Sometimes when I'm working through something it will get stuck or crash but sometimes there are times where nothing happens at all. If you're looking into using psim for simulations then make sure to check out their…

Pros
  • Its easy
  • Good interface lotsa tutorials available online
  • Easy installation process; requires no special coding knowledge whatsoever.
  • Helpful community forum
Cons
  • Nothing

Great alternative, easy learning curve and great price

I like that you can save different circuits for your design. It's very useful once there are multiple engineers working together to get an idea of how things will look as they progress through development. There is also an editor which allows you to edit some of the components without having access to sim software itself. This makes it more accessible when trying to troubleshoot or have someone else help out at the computer end when using it outside their normal day job area. Sometimes if you…

Pros
  • Also being able to use the library of components to build something quickly
Cons
  • The interface can be a little confusing and there is no way to add components without going into the software

Flexibility, Versatility & Performance

The ability to simulate various control schemes for different operating conditions is one of my favorite features. It's great how much flexibility you have when modeling your vehicle or machine as opposed to having to use several other tools if that were not an option. I dislike how long it takes to run simulations at times (can take upwards of 15 minutes). Sometimes there are problems where the program freezes but only after working properly for awhile and then suddenly crashes. Simulating AC

Pros
  • Very easy interface compared most software out their..Easy way make changes in circuit without building again
Cons
  • Empty
