The LED lighting is perfect for our Crested Gecko Aviary.

So far I am very happy with the UVB LED lamp. It is perfect for our crested gecko's enclosure and generates minimal heat. We have a dome lamp with a heat emitting ceramic lamp that we use to maintain the temperature so we don't need a filament heat source from UV light. We've only been using the LED UV lamp for a few days, but so far we're loving it!

Pros
  • full spectrum LED bulbs with low power consumption, long lifespan, high security and other benefits, and UVB5.0 and UVB10.0 options.
Cons
  • Only available in black

True UV but limited range

Okay, I've tried a few of these new UV LED lights to make sure they're real. It has UV output; Tested with Solarmeter 6.2, results below and in pictures. It doesn't heat up; the temperature of the actual lamp after 10 minutes (allowing the lamp to fully warm up and give an accurate UV reading) was only 88°F. UV values: @ 2": 34 µW/cm² @ 3": 22 µW/cm² @ 4": 18 µW/cm² @ 5": 13 µW/cm² Since most tropical reptiles need 13-30 µW/cm² cm² are recommended for a bathing area, I would say that this lamp…

Pros
  • Suitable for tortoises, bearded dragons, lizards, reptiles, birds, terrariums and aviaries.
Cons
  • No automatically

Actual UV Power and Measurement

Actually emits UVA/B (good stuff) and doesn't detect UVC (harmful wavelengths), which is great. LEDs have come a long way, although UV only penetrates a short distance. Also, the surface of the piston only reached 91°F, so shouldn't pose a burn hazard; However, this means that most species require a separate heat source. Measurements were taken after the light was left on for 15 minutes to warm up and get an accurate reading. See attached photos for µW/cm² measurements made with the 6.2 solar…

Pros
  • The UVB 5.0 LED lamp actually consumes only 3W of power but has the same effect as 26W on the market and 3 times longer lifespan.
Cons
  • Crumpled
